2024 Week 2
Heating Up Down Under
TENNIS WATCHERS

Hopefully you’ve gotten some practice adjusting to the late night time zones as we are quickly heading toward the first slam of the year. We have three tournaments in what is the final week before the Australian Open. The WTA will be in Hobart, with the ATP picking up where the WTA left off in Auckland. There is also a joint WTA/ATP event in Adelaide this week. In addition, we’ve got qualifying kicking off for the Australian Open as well.

Coverage will be split between Tennis Channel and ESPN this week. All of the Australian Open coverage will be on ESPN Plus. Of note, ESPN Plus for one month is up to $10.99/month, but you can cancel after one month. If you also use Disney Plus/Hulu, you can get a Disney Plus (with ads) bundle for $14.99. ESPN Plus will also air exhibition events throughout the week. ESPN 2 will air a history of the Australian Open 1/7 at 11pm.

The other tournaments will all be on Tennis Channel and ATP matches streamed on Tennis TV. Check out the full guide below and enjoy some tennis!

This link was recently given to me to access US coverage of figure skating, but it has every US cable, and broadcast network on it including Tennis Channel. It might come in handy for anyone looking to access sports/news/entertainment on channels not available to those of outside the US, or Americans who don't want to pay for them. There is no sign up or VPN required.

2024 Week 7
Love means nothing...or bagels
TENNIS WATCHERS
FEB 10

We’ve got another jam packed week, tennis watchers! The WTA will kick off this week one day early, starting tomorrow in Doha. The ATP will follow up starting Monday in Rotterdam, Delray Beach, and Buenos Aires.

Coverage will continue to be on Tennis Channel. Given the wide range of time zones, live tennis matches will start early in the morning with Doha, pick up mid day in Rotterdam, with Buenos Aires and Delray Beach early afternoon. Keep in mind, the below times are approximate for the mid-day and afternoon matches, as it will depend where Tennis Channel decides to go for live coverage. As always, streaming (TC Plus and Tennis TV) will have matches starting with the order of play.

Live tennis does make the perfect valentine’s date, and it still works whether going solo or as a duo! So grab some chocolate, light some candles, and enjoy some tennis!

When I see Tennis Channel adding a right-wing zealot (and a moronic regurgitator of garbage) like John Isner to its commentator list along with Coco Vandeweghe, who also had some right-wing stances more than a decade ago, I wonder about the politics of the play-by-play guys and other commentators.

Naively, I assume most of the non-tennis player announcers are not right-wing trash, but probably I am mistaken. How can someone of good conscience work with Isner, who embarrasses hiimself daily with sickening tweets?

Don't forget who owns TC. Sinclair is not exactly known for being "fair and balanced".

I had no idea they hired Isner and Colleen. :vomit:

2024 Week 14
Miami Nights to Clay Court Mornings
TENNIS WATCHERS
MAR 31

After a month of hard court tennis from the Sunshine Double, we will enter a slightly dustier time of year as clay becomes the main event moving forward. WTA will make its annual trip to the green clay of Charleston this week (as well Tennis Watchers!), as well Bogota. The ATP will be in Houston, Marrakech, and Estoril this week.

Coverage will be slightly adjusted this week as well. Houston will be on ESPN 3/ESPN Plus so you will need an ESPN log and/or ESPN Plus. Otherwise, Tennis Channel will have you covered for the remaining events.

2024 Week 15
Tennis with a View
Tennis Watchers
Apr 06, 2024

This week kicks off one of the more scenic events, Monte Carlo. The perennially ATP favorite will begin Sunday with first round matches. The Billie Jean King Cup will also be this week with matches starting Friday afternoon.

Coverage will return to Tennis Channel for both Monte Carlo and BJK Cup. While the schedule for the first round start on Sunday doesn’t have Monte Carlo yet, TC Plus and TEnnis TV will for sure be streaming. Keeping an eye on if Monte Carlo gets slotted into the TV schedule though!
