Good call. The conventional wisdom was the head to head would not matter, but conventional wisdom was dead wrong.

Hope she grabs it...but it could even be Coco, or Muchova or Pegula...meganfernandez wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 4:01 am Sabalenka’s to lose.

I didn't vote in the poll but I think Miss Other is going to take it.

If it is Sabalenka vs Ostapenko, they will have to get new balls every alternate game...

Re: '23 US Open Women's Draws and Discussion
Head to head always matters..for instance between swiatek and Ostapenko..if Osta had beaten her 3 times in a row, there would be a reason for it..their games must somehow be matching up that way..unless we think that reason is no longer valid, why should we expect the result to be different?

The others are all in the poll - so that leaves only Stearns, Kasatkina, Keys, Qz and Cirstea and, of course Ostapenko..somehow I cant see anyone other than Ostapenko from this list as having any chance...

I was aware of this stat, and liked how Osta was playing, even at end of first set that she lost.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 10:47 am Head to head always matters..for instance between swiatek and Ostapenko..if Osta had beaten her 3 times in a row, there would be a reason for it..their games must somehow be matching up that way..unless we think that reason is no longer valid, why should we expect the result to be different?
So, I didn't mind that Osta's odds changed to 10-1 after the first set (obviously higher than at start of match). Was a good time to get in...

Yeah big opportunity for any of them but Sabalenka should win if she plays her best.ashkor87 wrote:Hope she grabs it...but it could even be Coco, or Muchova or Pegula...meganfernandez wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 4:01 am Sabalenka’s to lose.

Muchova was the first winner of the tournament on Day 1. I said at the time it would be nice if she were the last winner, too.

Vondrousova struggling with a neck or shoulder problem.. Stearns is really good but a rather poor mover..that will slow her down as she progresses ..

Of course, pre-tournament start- I'd have called this option insane. As things stand now- why not?
I'd pick another pair. But, LOL, I refuse to post any finalists options. Because I truly have no idea.
