That would be something that I would like to see. You are the previous year's Junior champ? You get a WC into the main draw. Still, good for her that she made it the hard way.
And I really know nothing about her.

I like the idea, but you'd need to probably add one wild card spot to make it happen. FFT acts like it's in their rulebook to hand out RG wildcards to French players and only French players so I just can't see them willingly giving up one of their current ones to a non-French player yearly unless it's required of them.

Remember, all my ideas are basically pipe-dreams. Your point about the FFT is spot on.

Tuned in to watch Canadian Rebecca Marino and Océane Babel play - Babel's got a unique style that's fun to watch... but I see only a wet tarp covering those two courts.
Raining in Paris.
Damn.

Well the rain finally stopped and they played...
Rebecca won easily and quickly (2 and 0), but Babel lost in straight sets and didn't look very comfortable out there. She kept it close until the end in the 2nd set, but she really had no spark today.

Nice to see Marino qualify. Another good story out of qualifying (I posted this in the wrong thread earlier) is Jule Niemeier. She lost in the last round of qualifying in the last 3 Slams, even holding 2 match points in Wimbledon. This time she got it done - losing an Iga-esque seven games in three matches - and qualified for her first Slam. She's 22.

Also loving a Mexican woman named Fernanda Contreras Gomez, who played for Vanderbilt. It was her first time trying to qualify for a Slam and she did it. Nice to see more Mexicans in the mix. Not many to root for. Her coach is a familiar name - Christo van Rensburg, one of only 2 people to beat Sampras in straight sets at Wimbledon.
