by ponchi101 Nadal-Draper around 4 AM my time, Monday. I don't know if I will have enough will power to get up for that...

by ti-amie

I posted this here and in the Women's Draw thread.

by JTContinental Gauff now 4-1 vs Siniakova, with her only loss coming in Fed Cup

Pegula also with a straight sets victory

by Deuce Andreescu, who lost 12 straight games in her last match, with a surprisingly easy win over Bouzkova.
Bouzkova had been playing well enough to get herself seeded here.

Anisimova's career seems to be going backwards again - out in straight sets to Kostyuk in the first round.

by ti-amie I watched a bit of Raducanu's match then a little of Andreescu/Bouzkova. I really thought Bouzkova would put up more of a fight.

by ti-amie Otherwise I'm doing my outer court thing watching Otte vs Shang. I won't be up for the night matches.

by JTContinental Collins and Kalinskaya are twinning today. I can only tell which is which during the points from the color of their visor.

by JTContinental Also, the quality of this match is causing me physical pain

by Deuce Collins and Kalinskaya - both unseeded - split 7-5 sets, and are now starting the 3rd...

Korda won the 1st set over Garin...

Pegula is through easily, losing just one game.

by skatingfan What is Nike trying to do to us having to look at these outfits for the next two weeks.

The knee tape is another clue. :gorgeous:

by nelslus I feel like I just got done watching a bunch of Linda Blair out takes.

Absolutely appalling. Who are the designers that are allowed to get away with this?

Supposedly inspired by Australia's terrain. I'm sure that's what we all see when we look at it. Nike seems to have a commitment to putting out questionable designs for the Aussie Open recently.

by Owendonovan I'd be making Ostapenko run if I were Yastremka. Ostapenko's consistency with unflattering outfits is top notch.

All that kit is missing is an oversized Minne Mouse head

by ponchi101 Kyrgios out of the tournament. Knee injury.

Wow! They've been hyping him breaking the men's title drought in ways in which I don't remember them doing in the past.

by JTContinental I almost picked him in the Men's pool today, but then got a feeling he wouldn't play and switched to Coric

I was curious as to why so many this year were saying it's Nick's year to win.

by Deuce Nadal and Draper split the first two sets...

Azarenka beat Kenin, 6-4, 7-6. It was close... Kenin's getting there.

Unfortunate and unflattering in every way.

by Deuce Draper is really struggling with a leg problem and is not moving well. He may not finish the match.
4-1 Nadal, 3rd set, trainer out for Draper.

by Deuce Friends and fellow Canadians Auger-Aliassime and Pospisil have split the first two sets - 6-1 Pospisil, then 7-6 Felix.
Pospisil has been the better player - but he is sweating buckets. He has a history of cramping, as well as various other injuries. He's drinking fluids between points, but he looks drained.
Felix should win this in 4.

Swiatek got a very late break of serve and took the 1st set 6-4 over Niemeier.
But Niemeier is up a break (4-2) in the 2nd, and Swiatek struggled to hold serve in another service game.

by JTContinental A better player will eat Iga's serve alive as is, so she will need to improve it drastically if she wants to get through this drzw.

"I will crush you"
... she said to a cookie.

by Deuce Vasek actually somehow played really well in the 3rd set vs. Felix. That was quite surprising, given his physical state at the end of the 2nd. Full credit to him.
Of course, after he lost that 3rd set, there was no way he was going to win the 4th - but he hung in there and made the 4th set score respectable.
It was a nice match between friends.

Unfortunately their fellow Canadian Rebecca Marino, who is up to about #65 in the rankings now - didn't play well in her match, losing rather convincingly in straight sets to Zhu Lin.

by Deuce I forgot to mention Rinky!
Australian Rinky Hijikata came back from 2 sets to love down to win his first round match over Yannick Hanfmann.
I didn't see the match, but I saw the replay of the last point. It was obvious that the Aussie crowd was instrumental in him getting the win. He was quite happy - as he should be.
I met Rinky a few years ago when he was a Junior, and he was a really nice kid - very polite and humble. I'm happy for him.
As his reward for getting past the first round, he plays Tsitsipas next. But hey - he took a set off of Nadal at the U.S. Open last year, so anything's possible...
