That was a close one though for Alcaraz...all these tight matches make a young player that much tougher

He made that more difficult than it needed to be - he had two match points serving up 5-2 in the 3rd set.

Oh? Didn't know that...not a good sign...it was said of the great Gonzales that he was never broken when he served for a set...that is mental toughness...

It was a "winning ugly" match. He fluctuated from his usual brilliance to some truly puzzling shots, missing lines by a couple of feet.
Kurkacz is the one that has to look at this match. He had plenty of chances, and seemed very much in control. The guys at ESPN L. America made a good call: when Alcaraz broke to get even in the second set, one of them said "this match may have just turned". And it did.

Interesting choice by Tennis Channel showing the McDonald-Davidovich Fokina match instead of Sabalenka-Samsonova.

I know McDonald is an American, but this goes against the grain of what they've been doing in the past couple of years.

TC will always default to the ATP match.

They will only show WTA down here after all action has stopped in the ATP AND there are no more replays to show.

This is where I disagree with you. How is this court "fast"? The rallies are interminable, and every single match I have seen there has not been one single set in which either player has hit more winners than UE's. The court seems super slow; there is no way to hit a winner.
Deminaur is simply a rocket, and in a slow court, it is impossible to pass him. Medvedev grew more and more frustrated by hitting 5 "winners" in every point, and the ball kept coming back at him.

theory.. on a slow court, anyone can reach anything, so foot speed is not a differentiator.. on a fast court, it helps. On a slow court, you need to win points somehow and the court doesnt help you, so you have to generate your own power..
