Of the eight matches, if people want to beat the draw, people need to stay away from the matches with the players in the top 8 seeds. And everybody did stay away from those four matches. So all of the pick are from the matches with the four lower ranked seeds, and we have picks in each of those matches. The Shelton-Mannarino is the toughest match on paper. We will have to wait and see if the closeness between Shelton's and Mannarino's ranks creates the closest match or not. I don't know enough of the three unseeded players to know if their current successes are signs of improved play or just blips on the radar.

Day 7 Pick Summary

Start 27
No Pick 3

Dimitrov 16
Paul 6
Griekspoor 2

Start 24
Survivors 0
Dead 24

Comments: Like yesterday, you kept away from the matches with the four highest seeded players, with Hurkacz replacing Rune in this strategy. I think this is a good idea. I also see that none of you decided to pick from the Norrie-Ruud match. This is a good idea too.

I have not seen Cazaux play, so I have no idea of who will win the Cazaux-Griekspoor match. Good luck.

Last week Tommy Paul lost a round or two before he would have been lower ranked than his opponent. So, I don't have a lot of confidence in your pick.

Dimitrov is probably the most likely of these three to win. However, there is possibility that you will have to do a lot of careful picking if Dimitrov manages to beat Medvedev next week. I'll admit that Dimitrov beating Medvedev is less that 50-50, but I think it is more likely that Dimitrov will win than most people. That might be because I like Dimitrov.

I usually use 25 survivors as the place where I move to an Updated Results thread. So, once the results from today's matches are in, I will move us to an Updated Picks and Results Summary thread.

It could also be that you guys move nowhere at all. Paul and Griekspoor already lost and Dimitrov is on court.

Someone said "you have to go with one really tough pick to beat the SP."

I chose this one , wasn't happy with it, but felt was my best option for future success.

Checked score this morning, saw the "L" and said (a form of) "doggone it" - didn't know Dimitrov had lost too. Assumed he hadn't. So imagine my surprise when seeing the result.

I feel like am being rewarded for a poor decision haha

I can't recall.
And remember, we have an UPDATED WTA topic because so many people lost so early.

Holy moly! I’ve been playing these for years and years (unsuccessfully) and can’t remember anything like this.
