Message to the ATP.
If you play Rune, and you play him "tough defense" (get ONE MORE ball back), he gets frustrated soon enough.
He is still so enamored of the "flashy shot", the "great shot" that if you get them back his body language says it all.
I say he wins this match, but Cerundolo is frustrating him enough.

The match isn't over as I write this, but this was a big opportunity for Rune. I thought this half of the draw is/was his to lose. Casper hasn't had a great year, and Sascha hasn't had much match play.

Rune served for it at 5-4 in the fifth and now serves to stay in it at 5-6.

This is my first time watching Cerundolo. Fun player, big potential. What are the weaknesses?

Straining to remember the fifth-set TB rules at RG. Which I think are the same at all Slams now? Shouldn't be this hard.

Ugh,.. Cerundolo serving at 5-3 in the TB dumped an easy BH approach in the net. But I forgot this is a 10-point TB... I thought that was a huge opportunity lost, but not so much since it's 10 points.

Wow, that FH return by Ceru from the 12th arr.! Insane. Gives him the mini-break back at 6-5. Aaaand... he gave it right back with a sloppy FH. :x

Ooof, tough loss by Cerundolo, he looked fresher in the TB but maybe didn't believe? Rune keeps his hopes alive. Plays Ruud next. Whoever wins should reach the final. Ruud had an easier day today physically, but Woz just said Rune should recover just fine at his age.

Why cheater? What else has he done that makes him deserve that label?
Serious question. I might have missed something.

Cerudolo serving 2nd set, 1-2, deuce. Rune didn't fess up to hitting a double-bounce ball and he won the point. What happened was, Cerundolo apologized right after Rune hit the ball, because his own shot had taken a bad bounce. But the umpire didn't call the not-up and instead called Cerundolo for hindrance for talking during the point. It was obviously not up and Cerundolo was obviously cheated out of a point. Rune converted the break and it held up for the set 6-4. Everyone thinks he should have admitted the not-up.

It especially shocked me, because I've always thought that Kader Nouni is an excellent umpire. Albeit, I google searched, and found some controversy from him during a Nalbandian loss in 2012!!

I'm even more cranky than usual (as if the brat and his Mrs. Bates weren't making me cranky enough), since I also got to see Asia Muhammad and Glasspool blow two match points in the third set tiebreaker of their mixed QF loss. I willed Rajeev to multiple Slam titles, and I'm trying to work my anti-suliso magic for the benefit of Townsend. No luck with Asia, as usual. :gorgeous:

thank you for willing Rajeev to Slam titles, on behalf of Indy's entire tennis community. We loved the Rajeev Ram Challenger last summer! Got a close-up look at Shelton, Wu, and Kovacevic.

Yup, and we got to see Ben in the Chicago tournament last year, among many others- including, of course, Tracy Austin's kid, Brendan Holt. :gorgeous:

....I SWEAR, I was just going to type in, which will come first- Tsurenko wins a game, takes a medical time out, or defaults. And, 2 out of 3 are already accomplished. :gorgeous:
