What it is about Haddad Maia's game that has forced her to play three of the five longest matches of the year and four of the longest 16?

This one may go a while, too, the way both she and Jabeur play up-and-down tennis, albeit with different styles.

And Jabeur dug her own grave. Terribly tight. I remembered how tight she got at the end of her R1 match vs Linette last year at RG, when she came in with huge expectations. There was some mumbling about a leg injury, too. The one that she came back from too early at Indian Wells. But at a set, 5-5 and break point, it's not the leg. Really tough loss for Jabeur. Happy for BHM. Iga will roll her, though.

Neither. The last set was a lot of errors from both sides.
About what is it about BHM playing long matches. I think that, for a woman of considerable size, she has limited power. The serve is not big, the FH is neither, the BH is too flat. Remember that her two tournament victories came on grass, which helps the lack of power.
She is a tall woman; 6 feet tall. But she does not crush the ball. So she scrapes a lot, and that means long matches.

Well, you could hear Jabeur's choke from many kilometers away, so maybe you caught that coming over the Alps from France.

It had a lot of great play and incredible defense, but yeah, Jabeur choked or was hurt in the end. She also played the most bone-headed drop shots in the history of tennis.

How does she win, then? Match after match?
