I’m pumped for Coco-Andreeva, Shelton-Thiem, and Kvitova-Wozniacki. I’m eager to see how Ajla plays in her first match back in a while.

My calculations: No nighttime crowd, knowing she didn't play her best Monday, tougher opponent than Monday, playing the newer teenage phenom who took a set off her last month and bailed Coco out by having a meltdown. If Andreeva plays her best, it will be a test. But Coco will have a great game plan from her coaches after the Wimbledon match.

Andreeva played much better than I've seen in her last few matches, especially with her on-court attitude, but shot selection and second serve are both pretty big weaknesses for her still.

I care a little bit - which is why I'm in the loser's lounge having a drink (or two). But, a great result for her and I am happy that she is having a good tourney. I have always liked her.
It seems like time is going backwards towards 1984 . . . :freaking:

She double-cheeked me, but happy for her. Would be happier if I thought she'd capitalize on this instead of losing to Muchova in the next round. But maybe Muchova will be hurt. 50/50 chance.

LOL, as bizarrely competitive as, deep down, I am with all of these pretty little imaginary trophies and medals- ultimately, I am, of course, a bigger tennis fan. I'll always root for my favorites- even when I've "voted" against them in a TAT Pool.

Plus- now, please, please, please, please- I look forward to you belittling yourself and others in your very own 2023 USOSP Women's Picks and Results Thread, OH, I can just smell the masochistic flop-sweat now.... :gorgeous:

Seriously, this was one of many match-ups I wasn't gonna touch with a 10-foot poll- unless there were no other options. On an average day, sure, Taylor would lose against Haddad Maia- as Taylor often does in singles. But, she's too much of a big-match Slam player to pick against here in a Pool.

In today's- and, arguably, for this whole tournament's- most monumental upset- Rajeev and Joe won a match.

Ponchi- we may have to schedule an extra 15 minutes with our practice session now, to be on the safe side. :gorgeous:
