could it be that he is a champion on all surfaces so always took hard courts seriously too - and had just completed a hard couts swing, usually, before coming to MC - maybe a bit tired, maybe a bit unused to clay? Monte Carlo was always the first clay court event.. this year has been a different path for him, maybe it will make him more successful here! Threepeat?!
But the previous 3 years he's come into Monte Carlo having not played the sunshine double, and still lost early - 2-3 record in those 3 events.

Could be partially that. Could be that MC is the slowest of all clay masters.
from what I could see, the court is pretty fast, for a clay court.. even the speed ratings, though maybe not current, suggest MC is the fastest of the clay events:
speed ratings:
Monte Carlo 24.9 (IW was 27.4)
Rome 22
Roland Garros 21
Madrid 20.9 (but the altitude makes the ball fly rapidly through the air)

I wasn't checking myself. Relied on what Gill Gross said about the relative speeds.

The most cowardly thing a tennis player can do. Abuse a lines person (or ball person).
They know they cannot reply, or even defend themselves.
If the ATP does nothing to Medvedev, it will show their lack of a spine.

Well the ATP definitely lacks a skeletal structure.

Zverev vs Tsitsipas! One would expect this to be a semifinals, shows how much Tsitsi has fallen in the rankings...looks like he is back though, so should be a good one
