2022 AO Suicide Draw Pool: ATP Day 1 Picks
I don't know yet whether or not Novak Djokovic will be allowed to play. That means I am not sure whether or not the draw will change. Most of the draw, and therefore, most of the matches will not change. Therefore, I will post the currently planned matches and note which matches are most likely to change if the Australian Government decides to not allow Novak Djokovic to enter the country. Those matches have parenthesis around the players names that are most likely to change in that case. The first name in the parenthesis will be the name of the player in that slot if Novak Djokovic is allowed to play.
Given the current uncertainty, I feel the need to state three things:
1) You are picking a player to win. If the player wins, you continue on to the next day. Who that player beats is irrelevant. For example: if you pick Bublik, who is currently slated to play Escobedo, and Novak Djokovic is not allowed to play, and therefore Bublik plays Coria instead; if Bublik wins, it won't matter if he beat Escobedo or if he beat Coria.
2) If, for some reason, pick Novak Djokovic and he does not play; then you are out.
3) If you pick someone who is currently in the top half of the draw, but Novak Djokovic is not allowed to play, and your pick gets moved to the bottom half of the draw; then on Day 2, you will have to pick another Day 2 player and have both players win to move on to Day 3.
All picks must be made before the first players walk onto the court. Good luck, I think we are going to need it.
