Around The World 2026 - The Scoreboard

#1

Post by Oploskoffie »

The first week is done, and after 12 contestants picked 44 different players and three tournaments yielded eight unseeded semifinalists, we have some huge differences between first and last placed!!

The week 1 high scorer, and one of several people with Cirstea on their team was Jeff from TX; well done! :D Special mention for ponchi for being the only one to give Katie Boulter a chance which has kept him within good distance of the top spots.

We move on to Doha and another Saturday final and another Sunday trade deadline!

Another fascinating week of tennis with (rather) varying results for all involved! :?

Well done to this week's high scores New England Nitemare who moves up from seventh to third! :D Meanwhile, Jeff from TX stays in the lead and tenedab just hangs on to second place!

Like most of this week's high(er) scorers, having Muchova on the team turned out to be a blessing. Others were left to rue having or adding Gauff and Anisimova to their team. That said: they're both in the draw for the next tournament; who dares to keep them? ;)

If you want to trade, you can do so up until Sunday, February 15, 11 AM Dubai time!

I am keeping Anisimova, especially since Sabalenka is not playing. High risk because Amanda is insane, but she can win it.
My question is Navarro.

The next leg is tricky especially since we don't know for sure who is actually playing Merida, and this game treats big and small tournaments pretty much the same ..that is one flaw that should be fixed.

bwahahahaha! 38 pts! you are all not welcome!

I'm doubling down though. saving most of my trades to see if I can make a run next week. So Gauff? Anisimova? I'm keeping them! So watch out for me to come dead last next week too!

Not sure what you mean by not sure who's playing Merdia...I see a list on the WTA site.

I think it's just part of how the contest is intentionally scored and extra level of strategy - do you use the trades in the big tournaments, or save them for the last week hoping for someone to come through for you? And can you even afford to wait that long?

If the last week was worth way less points it would be barely be worth including at all.

This contest at least is not meant to reflect the level of each tournament (although some contests do.)

I'm still stunned I somehow outscored two people this week. I guess a lot of 7's and 3's is better than less!

You guys do a fantastic job running these contests so it would be churlish of me to criticize any of them, so I wont.

But why this comment?
Hey. There is a difference between criticizing, criticizing constructively and suggestions. If you believe something can be improved, no harm in saying so.
And, yes. The contests' staff crew does a hell of a job. I did not know how much work they put into these contests until I started running TAT2.0. If the site generated profits, they should get 80% of them.
