Rybakina is by no means a lock to beat Pegula. The favorite, yes, and a definite winner if she maintains her current level, but we're talking about Rybakina. She is capable of a dramatic dip at any time, as happened against Krejickova in the 2024 Wimbledon semi, and Pegula will make her play well to beat her.

I have to pick Svitolina even though I don't think she'll win. So I have to hope Pegula can beat Rybakina. Ironic that I was rooting against Pegula yesterday.

Valynn bows out of the competition along with Elina Svitolina. This means that ashkor87 is guaranteed a medal and is just one Rybakina win away from being the sole champion. If Pegula prevails, both ashkor87 and Valynn will get medals.
