I did not see the gold-medal match, but everyone who watched the Olympics was talking breathlessly about how well Alcaraz was playing up to that match. Djokovic was still recovering from knee surgery.

I did see Djokovic's performance against Sinner in the Aus Open semis and he was listless and disinterested. Motivation appeared lacking in a lot of his matches a year ago, but not in the Olympics, which he won.

Alcaraz is good enough to beat top-level Djoker if he wins the important points, but I still think Djokovic can beat top-level Alcaraz if he does the same thing.

An argument that includes "Everyone" doing anything already loses some credence with me....unless one has added on to their clearly already legendary Super Powers the ability to, in the Past, Present and or Future, converse with everyone who did or in the future will watch all of the Olympics tennis matches, at least involving Carlos and Novak....I just do not know that everyone was talking breathlessly about 21 year old Carlos at the Olympics. Because, again, he was 21 at the time. He had just won two brutal Slam titles in a row. Prior to having to face Novak, Carlos had to win tiebreaker sets against Griekspoor and Tommy Paul, as Tommy is on a considerable list of players who give Carlos the Major Heebie Jeebies....Tiafoe, Sinner, on and on it goes. Then, there is the already mentioned selling of The Dank Soul of Novak....in addition to the souls of many of his loved ones.... assuming that Novak truly is capable of human emotions such as love. THEN, there is the factor that this was Best of 3 vs. Best of 5. So, Carlos having any real option of exhausting Novak and breaking him down became far less likely. THEN, as I will keep on bringing up, there were the constant mind games Novak played against a 21 year old who had already proven he has moments of fragility.

Oh, and THEN there is the factor of, for anyone who has ever seen more than one professional tennis match knowing that....anything can happen with any given tennis match. Especially a match involving The!!!!!! GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO, let it be said, everyone, even us Carlos Fans, were not drooling psychopaths, giggling and twittering while we were waiting breathlessly for Carlos to win the gold medal. TRUST that many, MANY Carlos fans will be quaking in our boots whenever Carlos has to face GOAT Beelzebub.

...But, HEY, let us all agree on a HOF player winning a match against a fellow HOF player if they win the important points. Because....when you win the important points... YES, you WIN. :yahoo:

PS....OH, and then there is the factor of The Surgery of Novak....a Miracle Surgery where, somehow, 45 minutes after the surgery, you are such a He Man that you can make the Wimbledon final and win the Olympic gold. BOW TO THE GOAT!!!!!!!!!!!! :gorgeous:

Most, but not all, of Djokovic's fellow players respect him.

People who dislike him have clear and compelling reasons, but you are a tad over the top.
