Another five set match for Alcaraz. Where is all the excitement?

I can't watch on vacation.
Very surprised Alcaraz blew a 5-2 lead in 3rd set. He always has been up and down in matches but usually not in big situations.

I've had a weird weekend, and only picked up this match in the 4th set which was not of a very good quality. Zverev struggling to win games now, but Alcaraz isn't playing that well either.

Alcaraz finds another level towards the end of the match - held serve from break point down 3 times - to win the match.
Bad call on a double fault that might have changed the 5th set in Zverev's favour.

Yes. Questionable whether that ball touched the line. The chair umpire said yes, electronic line calling said no - would have been 2-2 in the 5th if it was a double fault. That point may haunt Zverev for a long time, particularly given how many break points he had early in the 5th set, and failed to convert on any.

I was only able to watch the fifth. Zverev simply ran out of fuel faster than Alcaraz. I wonder what quality they had in the first 4, but the 5th was not bad.
It will haunt Zverev for a long time. Two slam finals in which he held a lead in sets and could not close it.

Re: '24 RG Day 15 Order of Play & Discussion
The U.S. Open final Zverev lost was the worst-played slam final by two players I have ever seen. It also was played in front of zero people.
This one will hurt, but Alcaraz is the better player. The U.S. Open final will hurt only if he never wins a slam, which is quite possible although I would bet the opposite way.
