What I've noticed, when watching matches and listening to the commentary, is that tennis commentators (and this includes Youtube analysts) rarely if ever pay attention to such attribute, as precision - specifically applied as ability to consistently hit close to the lines, while not making mistakes. Recently I watched Bautista Agut against Etcheverry from Stockholm, and IMO it was an illustration how precision separated them. Etcheverry is not slower on his feet (probably even faster) and his shots do not lack pace, comparing to RBA. But he was consistently slightly later a little bit, and over the course of a point this "slightly" was accumulating to the sizable advantage for RBA. Why do you think this skill is often overlooked, when commentators analyze the strengths/weaknesses of the players?

Agree.
I remember that Lendl used to practice a lot on his precision. He said that he was not satisfied until he could get at least a few shots ready to the point of hitting them at 90% success rate. He mentioned one particular combo. He would hit wide to the BH on the add court and, if getting a cross court return, he had to hit a down the line BH for a winner. He had that combo down to the 90% he said he expected.
That is the difference between a player with perfect technique and no major achievements and a player with the major titles. Laconte could hit any shot from anywhere in the court. But his precision was not high; he could hit it in by five centimeters, or out by 5 cms.
I think that is Muchova's current problem. When she is in by 5 cms, she is top 3. But the next day she is out by the same 5 cms, and she losses to Coco 1 & 4.
(No issue losing to Coco, another top player. But it was the score).
