It's not that easy to use endowment money for regular expenses. In most cases that money is given for specific purposes.

The Supreme Court told the Trump administration to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador’s infamous CECOT prison. So far, the administration is pretending to comply while refusing to do so.

Between the path of outright defiance of the Supreme Court and following its order to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from El Salvador’s infamous Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT), the Trump administration has chosen a third way: pretending it is complying while refusing to do so.

In short:
Chinese President Xi Jinping has landed in Malaysia after visiting Vietnam as he looks for support following America's tariff policy changes.
Beijing says it's "tearing down walls" as it looks to secure more trade with other countries.
What's next?
Xi Jinping will visit Cambodia later this week.

Meanwhile, the company I work for suffered its first carnage of this administration today. Five contracts were terminated for the government's convenience. They aren't huge contracts, but they are significant enough to employ about 15-20 full-time staff. I cannot divulge the agency, but I can say these are contracts with an agency even a seasoned federal employee probably never heard of.
While we will try our best to move affected staff to other contracts or cooperative agreements we have, I doubt we'll be able to find coverage for all of them. It was a sad day, for sure. And several of our personnel face some uncertain days ahead. And of course, this is just the beginning. Our "beginning" just started a good bit later than it did for many of our competitors in this industry.

No (expletive) kidding!
And that is exactly how a democracy should work, right?

So basically, a Trump administration crisis team formed to investigate the crisis wholly created by Trump.
So much winning, so much government efficiency!
I’m getting tired of all this winning and all this government efficiency.

So, now that the cat is out of the bag, the federal agency in question was AmeriCorps (formerly known as the Corporation for National and Community Service). You know, that independent federal agency that dispatches young people to communities to help with national disasters, wildfires, etc. The bigger problem, though, was apparently their past participation in efforts to address environmental problems like planting trees and providing basic supports in exceptionally poor communities like transportation, tutoring, neighborhood cleanup, and other unsavory stuff like that.ti-amie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:02 pmI'm so sorry.dryrunguy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 1:55 am Meanwhile, the company I work for suffered its first carnage of this administration today.
