Good enough to take out Fernandez in straight sets though

Well, sheesh, y'all.
IN any case- Alycia provided a serving Master Class today during the second set- first and second serves. Great job with not crumbling in that first set.

Re: '24 Aus Open Day 4 Order of Play and Discussion
The scoreline in this Gauff match will be misleading.
Gauff was up a break in the first (twice if I recall) and then had to break Dolehide serving for the first set to send to a tiebreak (which coco easily won).
But as they say - sometimes it's just advance and move on, regardless of how pretty.
Ps - andreeva and timofeeva had good odds before the match. Looking at both and the scaredy cat makes no moolah

Judging from this one match only, I do not see how Hugo Gaston is a professional tennis player.

BHM looking impressive too. I feel she is going to do something big this year.. great all-round game, good volleyer, no real weakness..

Her draw is good here. Maybe grass, too. She won a Wimbledon tuneup a couple years ago, I think.

Why one should never judge any player based on one match.JTContinental wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:31 am Judging from this one match only, I do not see how Hugo Gaston is a professional tennis player.
You should have seen Gaston make the 4R as a wildcard at Roland Garros in 2020. He beat Wawrinka (6-0 in the fifth) and Nishioka. Then, after Thiem handedly took the first two sets- Thiem then only won the match at 6-3 in the fifth. AND, let's all recall that there was a time not that long ago that this would have been considered to be a huge achievement vs. Thiem at Roland Garros. John and I have always remembered Gatson from this match- because he was a ton of fun to watch.

I remember Gaston made some wild run at the French at some point. It was Covid RG? That's definitely a quality match against team in 2020. He had just won the US Open.nelslus wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 7:22 amWhy one should never judge any player based on one match.JTContinental wrote: ↑Wed Jan 17, 2024 6:31 am Judging from this one match only, I do not see how Hugo Gaston is a professional tennis player.
