In the past, Johnny Mac went berserk over a ball that well, he thought it was in and the chair called it out.
I will not play under these conditions.
Jimmy Connors walked out of a match when umpire Jeremy Shales did not call a ball OUT, that Connors felt was so clearly out he hit a short lob of it and started walking away from the point.
And not just the bad boys. In the 1980 USO Final against Mac, Borg saw the ball land so far out that he did not strike it, he caught it with his hand.
Only for there not to be any call and he lost the point, which was the crucial break in the fifth.
I totally disagree with the removal of line judges; I believe that the best combo is a good line judge AND the electronic backup. But to say that there were no disputes in the past is a bit farfetched.
