I would presume that Sabalenka will be withdrawing.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 12:29 amSabalenka should be nervous. .Halep is a champion, in the same class as herself, and will be highly motivated...! Is she match-fit,? Certainly not. Let us see how well she does...very good chance of beating Badosa, though, who is not herself always fit to play...very interesting...JTContinental wrote: ↑Mon Mar 18, 2024 11:02 pm Halep? I'm waiting for the draw to be revised. Knowing the WTA it might not be until tomorrow. The next in, Schmiedlova, is playing tomorrow I guess in place of Raducanu so I guess it'll be a LL? I can never figure that out.skatingfan wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:29 amI would presume that Sabalenka will be withdrawing.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 12:29 amSabalenka should be nervous. .Halep is a champion, in the same class as herself, and will be highly motivated...! The great uncertainties are-
How will Halep do?
Is Osaka getting back to her best?
Is Rybakina fully recovered?
Is Alcaraz strong enough physically to fight through one more hot, humid tournament?

It was actually pretty cool temp wise at IW. From how the fans dressed it got downright cold at night and many players wore long sleeves while playing.
Miami is another matter.

In case you are wondering, Sabalenka's close friend (bf?) Passed away suddenly, very young...
Unconfirmed thus far. One hopes not true..

very difficult to tell what will happen at Miami - the players are mostly tired and /or injured/sick/grieving..just hope they all come out ok from this...
I always thought MIami was a more straightforward tournament than IW, with conditions a bit less extreme but the factor of physical fatigue makes it much less so now.. Even last year, Sinner and Medvedev were struggling in the finals, and Rybakina looked like she wanted to lose and go home. Not worth prognosticating here..

OMG, and bless her heart. Trust that I will not judge how someone chooses to handle grief. For sure, IMO, she should not have to do any media for as long as she needs to remain private. Just so horrible.

Halep was visibly fading at the end.
