She did trouble her, but only in the first set. I wonder what changed.

Probably began to read the serve..?
Also, Swiatek is so quick, she can run down all those drop shots Sakkari couldn't reach ..but I suppose I am just speculating..will have to hear from someone who saw it ..I can't, here, nobody showing live.

Struff is giving Alcaraz all he handle.

I have never understood why Struff did not become a top 20 player. He still can at age 34, but he goes into cold spells where he struggles to win matches. He has serious game.

Sinner is far less formidable on clay. I doubt he'll go past SF's here.

Out of curiosity* I checked the odds on the Nadal - Lehecka match five minutes before it was supposed to start.

There are a few times that lines move - and one of them is just before the start.

I got in and saw Lehecka was a slight underdog (+102). I watched it and the line was changing every ten seconds. Within a minute it got as low as -154 before finally settling at -118.

Further curious I looked at the set market. Lehecka was +200 to win in 2 and +310 to win in 3. I never paid attention to this before, but that is hugely disparate. If you legit thought Lehecka could win - there are only two options. You would be better off to bet on BOTH him winning in 2 or 3 as opposed to him winning as a single bet.

*I thought could get some value with people picking Nadal out of nostalgia. Guess I should have checked earlier

I don't think I've seen Lehecka play for a while - he has really bulked up in the past year.

AI gives Andreeva a 36% shot against Sabalenka..I would make it about even...if I had to bet, I would bet on Andreeva...her defense and speed can get her a win in these relatively fast conditions...

There's some speculation that Sinner is a little hurt, right?

Alcaraz has lost his title at Madrid. He might now drop to #4 and almost certainly will be no higher than #3 seed at RG (assuming everyone plays).

Rublev should go on and win this tournament. Even though he's not as as good as the truly elite players when they are in top form, he's always had more game than he is given credit for. As long as they don't declare the semis or final a grand slam quarterfinal, he should be in good shape.

Fritz could trouble him in the semifinal if they play because return of serve is his weakest shot, but I can't see Fritz beating him despite his head-to-head 5-3 lead (Rublev is 1-0 on clay, beating him a tight three setter on his way to the Monte Carlo title last year). Sinner is not 100-percent healthy and although Medvedev has owned him on hard courts, the matchup should favor Rublev on clay.
