Can I move this to Great Tennis Journalism? I think it might be written by AI. The last line, referring to the quest for the French title as "a path to gold," is off the mark, at least for an audience familiar with the phrase "go for the gold" as an Olympics reference. Maybe the UK doesn't use that phrase as often? I'd never let that ending stand as an editor - especially since the Olympics are being played at the same venue soon after. It's confusing.

And don't get me started on creating a long piece based entirely on another outlet's reporting.

You can't move it (you are not the author of either quotes) but you can create a link and reference. Just click on the number of the post (#721) and the link will be copied to your clipboard and then you can paste at will.

I found that last line about going for the gold, odd as well. Gold really only applies to the Olympics as something to go for.

The other tennis stuff sounded pretty solid. I think AI would definitely make that kind of mistake. I think if it got tricked by the Olympics happening at RG a little later.

This was inevitable. His name is of course David Witt.

Well, the post was by DJSnafu, so the mistake was inevitable, too. :)

I've heard Mouratoglou and Rune were out drinking the night before his match against Struff in Munich, which he lost 2 and 0. His mom is pissed and wants Patrick gone. But Rune likes him too much as a cool guy to hang out with. Wonder if his days are numbered.

Hot take: Mouratoglou is a better schmoozer than he is a coach, and has been coasting the last few years on the success of someone who would have won all those slams still without him.

He is a fantastic marketer. I'm not sure Serena would have kept him around for 10 years if he wasn't making a difference. Do you? Unless he was paying HER?

It's hard to say--both Williams sisters didn't fiddle too much with their entourage during their careers, and it's clear she obviously thought he had some value.
