No excuse for ESPN2 to move on to the irrelevant summer league. Wanted to hear Townsend speak. Also, waiting on PMac to respond

Townsend played that set 2 tiebreak like a boss. Well deserved after being close with McNally and Fernandez

LOL, we were SO!!!! pissed off about this. Although, I knew this would happen.

Nevertheless......

Taylor and Kateřina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yahoo:

I now have HUGE lifetime love for Kateřina- majorly helping Taylor to get her Wimbledon crown, and Coco with her French Open doubles crown- AND, Barbora- who dragged Rajeev to get two Aussie mixed doubles titles. :bananas:

.....Albeit, I am quite content with PMac keeping in STFU mode about Taylor forever. ANY contrition and/or support he could show Taylor now would be hollow.

Agreed about the hollow part. Just want Townsend to put him in his place again like she did at USO

LOL, I was pretty much rooting for Barbora to win today- albeit, I DO still wonder if this could have been Paolini's last shot at winning a major. It sure feels like Barbora can win a few more majors- although I kind of doubt it. I am very cool with both of them. I'd just like for the supposed Big 3- and Coco- to be able to truly step up more. Freaky Slam wins can be fun and all. But, it is weird how unsettling it can feel. And, ponchi is right- the public could lose interest in the women's tour if the winners aren't big enough stars.

AND, for all I know, Paolini's gonna own the tour now. If she does become a Mega-Star, good on her. GET her on Ashe and Armstrong.

OTHER than all of that- these two doubles finals were just spectacular. So much fun.

Paolini has definitely not become the most popular player on tour.

Nothing the WTA can do, but this lack of excitement is troublesome. Add to the RG final, and these are going to be slim years.
I missed the poll because I always click on the link that takes you to first unread post, and it skips right by polls. I caught the men`s poll.

I'd say she's become one of the most popular. Who would you say is the most popular woman playing right now? Not based on stats just based on fan enthusiasm?

For starters, any of the top American or Eastern European players are going to have an automatic base bigger than anything Paolini will achieve. Paolini’s appeal is specific and limited, IMO

Outside of those players, I’d say Zheng, Raducanu, Osaka, Badosa, and Wozniacki are all more popular.
