Zheng must have, at the very least, hundreds of millions of followers.
Raducanu can move to pickleball or padel and all of the UK will still be following her.
I am not sure if Wozniacki is popular anymore. She has been out of the spotlight for a long time now.

That could be true about Wozniacki. That said, she still has 2.8 million Twitters followers and 1.3 million Instagram followers, compared to 26K and 300K for Paolini.

I am surprised. Of course, I know nothing about social media, but that Caro has 2.8 million followers is surprising.
Then again. Are they active? I wonder if people follow somebody and never stop doing so, and these are the remnants from her glory days.

'You also kept vastly underrating and discounting her match after match at Wimbledon. What exactly is your beef with her?

But her tennis does not stir me one bit. I would much rather have Navarro becoming more of a star.
This is what makes tennis a great sport and fun to debate. I have seen Navarro several times this year and been completely nonplussed by her game even when she was winning impressively. I'm not crazy about Paolini's game, either, but it is more interesting to me than Navarro's. Differences of opinion are good.

I'm happy for Townsend, too, because she is and always has been a refreshing presence.

But as to her singles career, does anyone here not consider her a massive underachiever?

No, not really, because she still doesn't move well enough to cover the entire court on her own, in singles...many players (eg Sania Mirza, Bhupathy, Indian examples) are like that..they do well in doubles though .

And TT is really great only at serve and volley..unfortunately not enough to win singles matches these days now that courts have become slow...

And why do you think she does not move well?

Isn't that the third rail question?
She plays a lovely game. The few times I have seen her play, her serve and volley is absolutely gorgeous. The serve is a lovely stroke, the volleys are crisp.
But she has to get to the balls. And that is where she could improve, if... that third rail.

Yeah, I don't think the UTSA's decision was totally indefensible way back when because she had legitimate fitness issues. That said, unintentional (or) intentional) racism may have been a factor, so I agree it was not a good look considering the entire picture.

I agree that Navarro's game is pretty boring. Works, but it doesn't hold my interest. I root for her but I don't love watching her play necessarily. Some matches have been entertaining. I saw her BJK Cup comeback in April live and it was thrilling. The competitiveness and grit came through more in person.

What I see...
If you mean, why does she not move well, there could be a myriad reasons..I don't think weight is the reason..as I said, there are players, like the ones I mentioned, who do not move all that well, not because they are unfit. isner, Rajeev ram..
