Wonder if Frech will withdraw? Its a long flight from Guadalajara to Seoul.
It seems like time is going backwards towards 1984 . . . :freaking:

It is a depleted field, but much better than Guadalajara was ..so things are looking up. I suppose anything less than a 1000 level event isn't enough to entice the big players like Swiatek at this late stage in the year.. everyone is tired, a bit injured, generally demotivated ..some of the young ones should seize these opportunities with both hands! Who could that be this time,?
Yep. There is no way Aryna is going to get on any plane to go anywhere and play after a USO run. Neither will Pegula nor Navarro.
Weird idea: time to start running the tours like if it were F1. Three weeks of MS 1000's for the top 64 players, MS500 for those below, 250's for the rest. One week rest. Then play one Slam (starting with the Aussie). That is six weeks.
Two weeks break.
Start the clay season, and repeat.
Then do grass.
Then do hard courts.
Season is over (for most) in September. Let them play their exos (Laver cup) and stuff. Play the YEC's in early Nov for the players that qualify.
DC is dead, so let it RIP.
And that way they have time to recover.

saw the highlights video of Alexandrova and Kostyuk too - court is a bit too slow for Alexandrova..not Kostyuk though.. I imagine Samsonova will love this court, and so will Anisimova.. Raducanu will not.. let us see what happens..

this time of year is great for me - all the matches are at a 'reasonable' time, unlike the USO..

Raducanu struggled to finish points against Stearns, while Anisimova conjured up easy power against Putintseva..on a somewhat slower court, Anisimova has the time to swing hard, and her power enables her to hit through the court..Raducanu has no such power, only the ability to take the ball early and redirect it.. she needs help from the court, which a slow court doesn't give her ..almost a textbook example

For me, in Atlantic Canada, I always loved French Open and Wimbledon timing...matches would start right when I get to work.

I would have expected Sabalenka to be more successful at W and RG - she did do well, there initially, of course...

Btw Alcaraz winning on the slower courts at RG and W, and Sinner winning on the faster courts at Melbourne and NY, is precisely what one should expect.
The court speed only makes a marginal difference but between these two, the difference will always be thin...
