Coco with 21 DF's. And she still lost 6-4 in the third.
And one of those matches in which the loser won more points and more games.
No info on how many volley winners.

Coco had only 3 dfs in the first set, which she won easily.. 9 each in the second and third sets..both of which were close.. if she had held her double faults to single digits...!!

DF are not happening by themselves out of the blue. Rather out of fear that weak 2nd serve will be punished. Apparently in case of Sabalenka as an opponent this fear is more justified.

It looked that midway 2nd set Coco no longer chased the balls, she was chasing in the first half of the match.

Sabalenka will certainly punish any weak second serve. But I believe the DF's are not always due to fear. I think Coco may have a technical issue. She has a very fast arm (she can serve at 115 MPH constantly) but I don't know if she can translate that into proper spin.

The DFs were not of the same variety that she had during the year. She was really going for her second serve, which is part of her coach’s new game plan for her

So much for worrying about Sabalenka's mind state after Beijing. A close match, but she is the best on hard courts, by a reasonable margin.
