Carlitos is a player that never gives up so it is definitely not over. It is gonna be a tough climb up a long hill for him though to get this done.

Sinner also DOES NOT have a reputation as a chokers. Yes, not over, way not over, but it looks mighty difficult
Also. We (or at least I) was expecting a much closer match. So far, fairly easy for Sinner.

Goffin tames Tiafoe. An actually very good match.

Very difficult for sure. If Carlitos can break I would feel better about this set.

So far Alcaraz hasn't been able to put much pressure on Sinner's serve. Only one break point and that was very early in the match.

Until he is able to do that, I think he is going to exit in 3 sets.

I have always liked Goffin. Not a big player, not a lot of power, yet solid strokes, good mechanics.
A player to learn from, and somebody I think would make a great coach if he ever decides to go that way. A players' player.

Carlitos had his chances in that chance to break, but it didn't happen. He is hanging in there in this set though.

Carlitos hanging on by the skin of his teeth and won the 3rd set in a tie breaker.

That was an unbelievable half-volley by Alcaraz.
Sinner tightened up a bit at the end of the set, but he still played well enough to win that one in straights. Let's see how he reacts to having to play a fourth.

I think if Carlitos can take this 4th set he is gonna win this match.
Also a side note if this match does go the distance and Novak's match goes long it definitely will not finish tonight.

My gut was saying Goffin and I regret not taking that risk. Alcaraz seemed like a more sure thing. Ugh.Suliso wrote:For me the situation was that no matter what I need Paul to lose (took him very early). Sinner, Tiafoe, Norrie and Goffin were available. Sinner seemed too risky, Norrie would likely beat Goffin/Tiafoe. So it was between Tiafoe and Goffin. I gambled on the former and now they're in set 5...

That last game for Carlitos to break right back I think was his chance, but it was not meant to be. I think me and my mom will be heading to the pub shortly.meganfernandez wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 6:15 pmMy gut was saying Goffin and I regret not taking that risk.
