Something must have happened, indeed.
So. Dallas. Where do you bring in you hat, sun screen, water and camera to take a few pictures?
It is getting to the point of: why even go, if you are going to be harassed at the gate?

This is standard policy at events in the U.S. My gripe when we went to Charleston is that they don’t sell clear bags anywhere on site or outside the gate that can be used for this purpose. And don’t open your water bottle on the shuttle from the parking lot because you can only take in an unopened water bottle.

Not likely any incident - just more complete B.S. of people looking to control people under the pitiful guise of 'protecting' everyone.

These kinds of heavy-handed and idiotic rules have significantly affected the enjoyment level I once had at tournaments. I don't enjoy tournaments nearly as much as I used to - and most of the reason is that there is much less freedom permitted at tournament sites.
Hell, my friends and I used to bring our racquets to pro tournaments and hop on any empty practice court to hit a few balls - and it was never a problem, because no harm was being done. This was as recently as 10 years ago. But today, not only are racquets prohibited from being brought in (although you can BUY one onsite, of course! ), but you can't so much as bring in water bottles or sunscreen (but you can buy them onsite, as well!!).

We had a 10 minute discussion with Jimmy Connors about racquets when he was one of the top 3 players in the world. Today, you can't get within 15 feet of top players, who are guarded like the president of a country, with security on all sides - unless it's to get them to scribble something illegible for 100 people at a time. But talk with them today? Ha - never in a million years!

These rules are way, way over the top, entirely unnecessary, and protect absolutely no-one.

Potentially only available to those in the US, but this one of Bublik's racquet smash has commentary that I appreciated - "Is...is that just a warning? lol"

It's just a warning simply because it's his first code violation of the match. So whether he smashes one racquet one time, or smashes three racquets 5 times each, the penalty is the same if it is the first code violation.
If he then smashed one racquet one time 20 minutes later, it would be a loss of a point.
It (usually) has nothing to do with the severity of the offence - it's the timing that matters most - as in whether it was the first, second, or third code violation, etc.

It is nice to see Bublik finally caring about something tennis-related, though. He is known as a very naturally gifted player who plays with zero intensity and really doesn't care if he wins or loses. This is a welcome change to that.
