Martina N. and her fellow commentator were saying that Jabeur's team didn't want her to play, with her ongoing knee surgery recovery. They stated that Ons stated that she wanted to play, so that she doesn't fall too behind with the points. Martina clearly was of the mind that this is a terrible plan- health and recovery must come first. I agree. Seems very obvious at this moment.

For sure if all that is true. However, besides that it could also be that she has already reached her peak (reasonable given her age) and the only direction now is down. We'll see during the rest of the year.

She shouldn't have come back, that is perfectly clear. She went against their advice and now we see why they told her to wait.

Everybody knows how I feel about favoritisms and such; I do not like them.
But Ons is scheduled to play around mid day, and it is Ramadan. If she is a strict follower, she can't eat or drink during the day. I say, in this case, do not make an exception, but schedule her for at least a couple of night matches. Let her at least hydrate during the match (and get a snack before).
There was an edict for professional soccer players - I'm sure it would apply to Jabeur as well.

I watched Sakkari vs Andreescu and once again Sakkari found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. She just kind of faded at the end and Andreescu held on to get the win.

I've been watching for a little bit. I was too ashamed to admit this. :gorgeous:
I'll answer for Nelslus. (JazzNu's question)
Shame, because watching any Bianca match is a little (or a lot) like watching "General Hospital".

That's helpful for sure albeit we don't actually know if she truly cares. A fair few don't as long as it's not public.

I will give Ruud until the clay season. That's his favorite surface. If he does not get results, then you are correct.

I'd say all of this is true of Bianca AND Sakkari (and far too many others, both tours).

Ruud could also be a sophomore slump. He's too young for a late career decline.

I don't see it as being covered. This is an edict that took place one year in Germany, not even sure what it is today. This was a topic of conversation for the NBA playoffs last year. That's well after this edict and no one said they were exempt from obeying the normal rules. I don't think this applies to anything but what the article is discussing.

If we're gonna make religious exceptions, Jews shouldn't have to play on Saturdays and christians shouldn't have to play on Sundays.

Not a fan of this soap opera slander. No shame in watching them.
