WELL, as we all now know- Pegula will never reach the career accomplishments and highlights of Alexandrova.

Meanwhile- Rajeev and Joe manage to lose to Paul and Shelton, 3 and 4. Happy for Tommy and especially for Ben. But, my favorites have just been dismal this year, especially by their standards. UGHHHH....

OK, well I have one. As a fan, I find your constant diminishment of Gauff and her accomplishments to be extremely offputting, and I'm asking you to reign it in a bit.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:44 pmno comment, doesnt deserve a responseJTContinental wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 8:15 amShe must be at least as good as Alexandrova because they have the same number of titles.ashkor87 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 12:37 am Not surprised Coco lost.. she really isnt that good , yet.. the one I am suprised at is Vika, she had been playing well.. Berretini is the male version of Pliskova - what is he up to? Is he for real? Medvedev rolling through quietly, as expected. It is quite astonishing to me, how quickly Alcaraz has become #1 and how well he is actually doing - of course, keeping Djokovic out of the country helps, and now the clay court season begins, where I dont expect even Djokovic to beat him. I had thought Alcaraz would take a year or to get to this level of dominance, but he is already there!

Now in that spirit, I have to admit that I was totally wrong about Krejcikova's return. I thought her singles ranking rise and French Open title were an aberration, but she seems to be picking up where she left off.

She played poorly today and still won. That's a good sign.JTContinental wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 11:23 pm Now in that spirit, I have to admit that I was totally wrong about Krejcikova's return. I say right now, she is in the conversation for the top player. Yes, I know, she is outside the top 10, but she won Dubai, and lost at IW to Aryna. To me, putting her at #4 behind Iga, Aryna and Elena is not farfetched.

She'll definitely be at least top 10 soon, especially since she's not defending many points for the rest of the year.

Re: WTA 1000 ATP 1000 Miami 3/21 - 4/2 2023
Cirstea has kind of come out of nowhere the past few weeks to post some solid wins.
She has shown flashes of strong play in the past - very inconsistently - so we'll see how long this persists.
I don't know what happened with Muchova today (I didn't see the match), but she had been playing some really good tennis of late - the best since her injuries.
I saw only a few bits and pieces of Andreescu - Kenin. It was apparently quite close.
Maybe Kenin is finally headed in a positive direction...
Krejcikova withstood the challenge from Keys by using her head again. I say she's the most cerebral/intelligent player on the tour when it comes to figuring out her opponent's vulnerabilities, and how to capitalize on them to win the match.
Bouzkova vs. Sabalenka was, sadly, quite predictable. Sabalenka has been playing really well so far this year, and Bouzkova has not been.

I did not realize how much the women's draw had been open until I did my predictions. The 2,3 and 4 seeds are still in (and no. 1 Swiatek pulled out before the tourney began), but the next two seeds remaining and 10 and 15, and there are five unseeded players remaining.
