This tournament has made some terrible decisions with the rain. Tiafoe's match should've stopped when they called off play on the other courts. They did this earlier in the tournament in one of Zheng's matches. They kept playing when every other court was called and on match point, her opponent slipped on the clay and they acted like it was just business as usual. The players were dripping wet when they shook hands with each other and the umpire. I thought they'd learn their lessen from that where this inconsistency isn't okay and certainly not in line with player safety rules. But I guess not. And there may have been other times this has happened as well, there have been a decent number of rain delays in the first week.

Play is suspended due to rain in Rome. I will be very surprised if there is any more #tennis tonight.

Musetti leads Tiafoe, 5-7 6-4 *2-1;
Zverev leads Wolf, 6-4 3-3;
Tsitsipas leads Sonego, 6-3.

And it must be a long time since the #1 and #2 S. Americans played each other.

Otherwise, those of you in fear of a Alcaraz Blitz may have led us to a world where Novak wins the 2023 Roland Garros title. :bang:
I think he's exactly what the game needed at exactly the right time who wan't named Federer, Nadal, Murray, or Djokovic. I don't think he's a clone of any other player but someone whose play has managed to remind of all 4 of those mentioned above. I also like he doesn't have the silly "next gen" stuck to his name/game.

I wonder how the court is playing after the rain.. could be the reason for some 'hard court' like results?
anyway, Tsitsi and Zverev are both doing well..people who think Zverev will go out early at the FO may be in for a surprise.. he is getting back, slowly but surely. Medvedev next for him - if he is getting back, he should be able to win that, let us see what happens.

Remember they recently played at Monte Carlo, with Zverev serving for the match twice (in the 2nd and in the 3rd) and losing.
In the matches I have seen, he is not being able to dictate with the BH. Maybe the timing is a bit off.

Hadn't noticed that Sinner has also adopted the "extreme back" receiving position.
Mac and Sampras must be thinking "I have a chance against these guys".

Very entertaining match going on right now between Badosa and Muchova. Muchova won the long second set in a tiebreak, but Badosa broke early in the 3rd and has the advantage now at 3-1.

Then a good day to be in Rome. The Sinner/Cerundolo match is also very entertaining, and it is slowly becoming a Davis Cup match.

And then they watched the forehand return fly past, and realized they should stay retired.
