Thiago Seyboth-Wilds, a Brazilian samba performer, totally lost the second set against Daniil, holding 2 set points in the TB and losing four straight points: 3 FH UE, one easy smash hit out.
I know, it is almost never luck. But sometimes...

"Big 4" Krejcikova out in meek flames against... Tsurenko?
How can she even explain that?

Thiago was able to finish this. The last set was a bit of a roller coaster, but he was able to stabilize it at the end. And the last game was solid.
I thought Medvedev was going to win this. How quickly these things change.

Medvedev managed to lose anyway. Some of us were rightlg suspicious about his clay skills despite recent good results

It's just that he really did look comfortable in Rome. His sliding was way better.
Since it was a L. American, they showed the whole match. And Thiago played very well; it was not as if Medvedev was spraying balls all over.

LOL, what I put in the Day 2 thread....

"....Meanwhile, Seyboth Mild had been up a set and two set points in the 2nd set tiebreaker- only for Mild to flutter down in flames- from Medvedev getting all the (tennis) balls- in play to lose the second set, and now the third set. I liked the world a lot better when Medvedev played miserable clay tennis. Just someone- stop him already. (....AND now Mild HAS going up a break in the 4th. So.....)

Nice to see Coco get her s**t enough together to win today's match. Interestingly enough, even with her (for now) losing her final points from last year- she's only dropped from #6 to #9 in the live rankings. With the assist of the other "top" WTA players underperforming. :gorgeous:"

Quentyn Halys, vs Pella, hit a 155 MPH serve (251 KPH). Record for the tournament so far, for sure, and I wonder how it ranks all time.

Fritz beats Mmoh, 62 61 61 in 91 minutes. #RolandGarros

Mmoh had been out for 3 months with a right leg injury that required surgery.

Wasn't Seyboth Wild a highly touted prospect at one time?

Yes he was. He disappeared into the ether until today.

He was also asked this at his post match presser. I'm trying to remember if Zverev was ever confronted like this. He may have been but I really don't remember if he was.

I did not think Seyboth Wild would win, but I was curious how he would perform after he eviscerated Dominik Koepfer 6-1, 6-1 in the last round of qualifying. For those who are unaware (which hopefully is everyone), Koepfer had gone 24-4 in clay court tournaments this year (all Challengers) until that match and is about to crack the top 100 again after injuries knocked him down. I know this because I wrote about him and interviewed him as a college player and have followed him closely since then. When he won only two games against Seyboth Wild, I looked S-W up and saw he actually won an ATP event on clay a couple years ago. He has game.

Medvedev found out the hard way today. Wish I could have seen some of it, but I will be super busy until the second week and won't be able to watch hardly anything.
