The thing is not only about going pro, but actually going to college. There is no way he can do both.
I say go to college one year, at least. See how you fare there. If you clearly dominate, go pro. If you are in the pack, you are not ready for the pros.
Beating Isner is a very good win, but it is a sample of one, on a peculiar surface.

What a dump. What a depressive sight. The squalor, the filth.

How can you even concentrate when you are playing there? I would be like "did I just die and this is paradise?"

I actually watched the Newport Final, the first time I've watched a match there in a couple of years. Michelson has a lot to learn. At crucial points of the match he panicked and Mannarino stayed cool and composed winning the match 6-2, 6-4. I'm not sure who Michelson's coach is.

As I said the last time we addressed Mannarino, he would be a consistent top-20 player if more tournaments were played on grass.

I used to follow Newport closely because grass is my favorite surface to watch, but I saw very little of the tournament this year. The funny thing is when I saw Mannarino was in the draw, I thought it was a rare appearance and wondered why he had not played there more often. Then I looked him up and found out he had played it seven times, going only 6-7 in those appearances.

This time he did what I would have thought he could do regularly against the type of fields that tournament gets. My only guess is the grass has improved to allow more rallying from the baseline and he used to struggle with the conditions.
