As much of a fan that I am, I don't think she will be missed that much. Garbie did not make that deep a mark. Sure, she will make the HOF, but she retires as the second best spaniard of all time, when she had the talent to displace Arantxa.
Wish her the best, though. But together with Barty, I think there was a lot of ink left to write.

Yeah, and who knows, maybe she gives it another go in a year or two. If not, she had a good career. I wanted a lot more from her. Too bad.

Of course, I never forgave Muguruza for beating Venus at Wimbledon but she was a graceful, classy player...I liked her a lot

She needs a vacation and some perspective,

I appreciate a squeaky wheel and someone willing to speak out. There is probably something to what she says, and traveling can be grueling and hard on the body. But it's not THAT hard. There are plenty of ways to deal with it. She can afford to fly first class and gets to stay at wonderful hotels. The global aspect is one of tennis's strengths and what makes it possible to earn a living playing it at all. Even if they had regional tours, you'd have to travel from one place to another a lot.

In a longer version elsewhere, she said she couldn't take the flight she wanted to get to the next tournament at a reasonable time because the tournament's courtesy transportation only goes to one airport, a different one. So take an Uber or private car. The hotel will arrange it.

I think she's tired and just complaining. I complain about my job too and sometimes to people I shouldn't if I'm really exhausted or frustrated. I don't want to quit and I generally like my job, sometimes it's just a way to let out steam.

Exactly. The publicizing of ones personal life, which I once actively participated in on social media, has turned into a giant WHY? to me.

For quite a while now, it seems to me that all we hear from pros is how difficult, terrible, unenjoyable BOTH tours are. "Oh, prize money sucks, my matches end too late, the scheduling sucks, the fans are rude, we are forced to travel all the time," etc etc.
Then players at their prime retire because "I want to do other things with my life". Or everybody is burnt out.
How do you attract a new generation to the sport if everything you hear about the live of tennis pros sucks?

Improve conditions so players have fewer reasons to complain? No?

Are the conditions really that terrible? The jobs offers:
Traveling around the world (to major capitals in the world)
6 figure income
Outdoor lifestyle, doing something that you like (I hope they do)
For the really outstanding players, world fame.
Lots of exercise (to keep yourself in shape).
I mean, is it all really that bad?
