NBC has finally and mercifully lost TV rights for the French Open.

Let's see who TNT hires as comms. I hope JMac et al aren't just transferring their crap from one network to another. Their NBA desk was the gold standard.

To provide some perspective here:

Nadal completed the career Grand Slam plus the Olympic Gold Medal at 24

Federer completed the career Grand Slam at 27

Djokovic completed the career Grand Slam at 29

Alcaraz has a chance to complete the career Grand Slam plus the Olympic Gold at age 21.

That's what's up.

A contrarian opinion...

The tennis commentariat really want to value time on court above all else. They’re trying to sell the quality of the sport as a Herculean effort, which naturally leave the women in the backseat. This match, from most accounts, was a (expletive), but will be labeled an “epic.”

The ESPN headline has already proclaimed it a "thriller," even though it appears just by the scoreline that any thrills left after the third set.

Yes, it was a poor quality match, but it was high on drama, and swings of momentum which makes for good entertainment. The women`s final was a poor quality match with no dramatic moments which is why it wasn`t good entertainment. The time on court comments speak to stamina being an issue, particularly for Zverev, and as it turned out after winning 5 consecutive games to win the 3rd set he was low on energy, and only managed 3 more games in the final two sets. Length of time on court can be used to demonstrate how hard someone has had to work to make it through to the current match, or it can demonstrate how dominate a player has been in that same stretch of matches.

It takes something peculiarly bad to beat a 2&1 drubbing. This match was not that bad.
But is was not a thriller either. The last two sets tell you by the score, which were also 1&2.

It's extremely rare to see a young athlete so impeccably dressed. It looks as if he's already wearing bespoke suits and shirts and I'm here for it.

Exactly. Not dressed as if he fell off his bed and landed on some clothes.
Good from him.

The jacket seems quite high, like double breasted? I like the polish, don't love the jacket.

He looks more polished than most his age for sure. It's a stylized interpretation of a Pea Coat. I don't love it, but he pulls it off without looking like he's trying. I wish I could see what shoes he's wearing.
