i am not hung-up on court speed, it is just that it is never discussed as a factor- albeit a minor one. I wonder how many posts there have been regarding court speed before we started this discussion a couple years ago.

And so it proved to be..must have been a good match..didn't get to see it..
So, the court speed was the difference in a match that went 7-6 (3) in the third.
Alcaraz won 5 more points in the 3rd set. Take out the difference of 4 in the TB, and they played 12 games so evenly that the difference was 1 point.
But, numbers are numbers. And you did say it was a slight favorable setting for Alcaraz.
He also yells at spectators, which is bush league IMO

I envy your tennis broadcaster. Down here, the analysis of the court conditions is constant. To me, it seems like the courts morph totally at the slightest bit of change, if you listen to broadcasters. It is sunny, the court changes, they closed the roof, the court changes, it is night, the court changes. It rained 25 miles away, the court changes.
I gather than in the end, I was always such a mediocre player that those things did not affect my lousy strokes.

Sabalenka versus Muchova is one we are all waiting to see.. I love Muchova but I think on this court, Sabalenka's weapons are the more effective..

Muchova has enough touch to handle Sabalenka's power. Her hands are quick enough. But, if she tries to slug it out against her, that won't work.
She has to use that slice BH a lot, keeping the ball low on Aryna.
I say Aryna will win, though. She is inspired right now.

Unbalanced draw. Should've been the final.

We like numbers. How could you have a balanced draw always?
Let's say.
1 & 2 are drawn on top and bottom. Then 3 and 4 are drawn. If the sums of the halves are unbalanced (1 + 3 = 4, 2 + 4 + 6), the next round is drawn so that the sums are balanced:
1 + 3 get to draw 6 + 8 (18), but 2 + 4 get to draw 5 + 7 (18).
Draw the next round at random, and repeat the formula for round 5.
You get random draws, but the draw would be more "balanced".

Every single tennis player or fan could follow that, right? ;)

(Muchova right now is an anomaly; her ranking cannot reflect her game because she was off for so long)

Muchova can't stay healthy long enough to have a regular presence in the rankings.

Your last sentence sums it up.
