Re: ATP & WTA rankings
Djokovic finishes with 428 weeks as #1, two years ahead of anyone else. The consecutives weeks record stays with Federer, though.
Sinner is 14th different #1 player of this century. For a reference WTA has had 22 different players in #1 position during the same time frame. Lots of players with very few weeks, though. Swiatek is already #9 all time.

I'm not sure that such position as "captain" even exists in Olympics teammeganfernandez wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 11:27 pmHealthy, yes, but not necessarily in form. But it's the Olympics and players usually want to experience it if they have earned a spot. Chances are she'll still be ranked higher than Keys unless Keys makes the final of the French.skatingfan wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 9:13 pmKeys is currently in position to be the 4th American for the Olympics - do we think Pegula will be healthy enough to play the Olympics?meganfernandez wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 5:09 pm Yeah and I'm not sure Pegula should get the nod over Keys on clay... maybe for doubles.
When I said "get the nod," I wasn't sure if the Olympics honors rankings. Do the highest ranked players always get the spots, or does the captain have some discretion?

Jasmine Paolini debuts in the top 10. No chance I would have predicted that even just a year ago.

They do, and Rinaldi and Bob Bryan are coaching this year.mick1303 wrote:I'm not sure that such position as "captain" even exists in Olympics teammeganfernandez wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2024 11:27 pmHealthy, yes, but not necessarily in form. Big achievement. Today a bit bittersweet, I guess.

Gauff will move to a career high 2 in the next rankings with not much to defend on grass. She's the highest ranked American player since Serena in 2017.

And I think she will do very well at W..her defence and foot-speed will win her a lot of matches...I was about to say she will do even better than she did at RG but then I realized what that means!!

A taste of the ATP promos for Sinner:
