I 'pick' on Pegula because her ranking is always too high..that is all.

If you say that any player is not as good as their ranking says, by definition there must be other players that are better than what their ranking says, because the one you claim is not as good should be ranked lower, and therefore such a player is occupying the spot of a better player that is ranked lower.
Mind you, I don't disagree necessarily with that premise; I don't think anybody in the tennis world will say that right now, Alcaraz is NOT the best player in the world, despite being ranked 3rd.
But you continuously choose Pegula as a worst player than her ranking says. So, how come she reached it?
Well yes, I choose Pegula because she is consistently ranked in the top 5-6. Is she really the 6th best player in the world right now, on any surface?! But I agree 6 is closer to where she should be, the top 4 are clearly better than the rest, who can pretty much be bunched together...

Sakkari has only won one 1000 level, but has been to the finals of 3 others and the semis of 6 additional events, so she gets a lot of points from there.

For the upcoming hard court season, I would rank players thusly:
Men:
1. Sinner
2. Alcaraz
3. Medvedev
4. Djokovic
One of these will win.
Next group (no order) - Fritz, Hurkacz, Paul,
Musetti
These will do well, but not win the whole thing.
Women:
1. Gauff
2. Rybakina
3. Swiatek
4. Sabalenka
One of these will take the title
Next group (no order) - Jabeur, Pegula, Alexandrova, Krejcikova,Vekic, collins, navarro
These can do well but not win the title

Returning players who (we hope) can do well- Andreescu, Osaka, Raducanu, Muchova
The rest are not likely to be a force.

Have you heard anything about Sabalenka's injury? Shoulder injuries take so long to recover.

Arthur Fils will supplant Alcaraz as the youngest member of the top 20 with his title run in Hamburg.

That was very considerate of her - I'm sure that TAT's contest folks will appreciate that in the very near future.

I don't understand the ACCOUNTING FOR COVID part.

In 2020 only two junior GS tournaments were held. Otherwise in 11 years max is 44 winners.
