It must be done. Much easier to market the #8 seed as the "Current Wimbledon champion" than listing the 12 QF's and SF's she did at minor tournaments to get there.
I "get" the rationale, but I still do not like it.

At least weight the tallying for the finals in a way that it's impossible to not qualify if you win a slam.
This might ultimately be a non-issue because I don't think Rybakina will be able to play.

Could easily be 2024, but some strong results are needed for that.

Is Sabalenka capable of playing well week after week? I don't think she will challenge Swiatek any time soon..maybe Pegula, coco can...

Next year-
Look for big moves from Shnaider, Andreeva, Noskova..among the men, from DeMinaur, Michelsen...
Those who will probably decline slowly- Svitolina, Jabeur, Fritz, Medvedev, Zverev..

Don't need to. 2-3 Slams per year should be sufficient. She'll be well ahead of Iga in the race if she wins the title this week.

True, but I can't see her doing that..her record doesn't suggest she does well at YEC..of course this year could be different
And 2-3 slams a year?! Who has done that after Serena?!

Kerber in her 2016 magical year (I think it was 2016).
Naomi did the weird thing of winning her 4 slams in a pair of B2B's (USO/AUS and repeat).
Iga did a RG/USO.
It can be done. But I agree, I don't think it will be the case here.
As for Aryna playing well week after week. On hard courts, she can. She did SF/QF/W/W during the US hard court circuit. That is consistent.

I'd argue that for the women Svitolina and Jabeur have already declined. Fritz I give another year before he stops going deep at majors. Medvedev doesn't really care and as for Zverev -

This year's US hard court season was ruined by the Olympics...Sabalenka is practically the only one who played..swiatek, rybakina, krejcikova, coco didn't play it fully ...can't quite call Sabalenka Queen of hard courts yet.
I know, I know, not Sabalenka's fault, not trying to asterisk, but her achievements are a bit less stellar than they appear..I wouldn't give her much chance of overtaking Swiatek either this year or the next .

Btw only Kerber had 2 majors in the same year..2016. Osaka seemed to win in alternate years..other than Serena, I mean.

Your standards are very high. She has been in the finals of the last 4 hard court slams, winning three.
She is less than 400 points behind Iga in the race. And Iga is not playing this week. So Aryna could overtake her as soon as Beijing is over. (In the race).

QZ in a tight race with Navarro for the 7th spot in the race..if, as expected, Rybakina pulls out, both will make it..2 big events in China, worth 2000 points, still to go, and QZ seems to thrive in China...I would bet she makes it - Navarro will have to rely on Ryba pulling out, though she is ahead right now.

Navarro is serious about this race! She has entered a 125 event in Hong Kong!

That HK 125 tournament is turning out to be interesting! Not only Navarro, but Halep is entered and so is Alycia Parks, Queen of 125K events
