Re: Tennis Related - Off Court Serious Issues
One of the reactions that I don't understand is the number of people saying that the ITIA screwed up the Halep case, and the Tara Moore case, and because those players were too harshly punished they should also too harshly punish Swiatek, and Sinner in order to be consistent. In both the Halep, and Moore cases the length of the suspension was shortened after appeal to the CAS, and the ITIA has had other suspensions shortened on appeal, and so the organization seems to be looking at those cases, and modifying there actions as a result to avoid lengthy appeals.

Halep still ended with her career in ruins, served something like 18 months, after an initial sentence of 4 years.

Camporese about Sinner:"the trial has not started, and the judges have not yet been officially appointed by the parties but there are rumors that they ordered the CAS to give a 1 year disqualification(no matter the trial) to send a political message that it is Wada that decides the sanctions"

the news is absolutely consistent with the Italian rumors of two months ago which I heard that given that the one-year disqualification will be a purely political disqualification as it was already decided before the trial and will essentially destroy Sinner's career at just 23 years old, they granted him as a goodwill gesture to play the Australian Open first so he could have the chance to win his third slam before his career disintegrated.
these rumors about the political decision and the act of mercy at the Australian Open were circulating in Italy 3 months ago.... while the news has only now arrived that the trial will in fact be held after the Australian Open

None of this makes any sense. Except that none of this has made any sense for a very long time now.

Re: Tennis Related - Off Court Serious Issues
Considering that CAS has often ruled against WADA in their appeals I don't see any reason to believe that CAS will impose a ban simply because it's what WADA has asked for.

Certainly far too much pr involved in the whole process. Should be straight up positive or negative results, not all this hand wringing because well respected athletes test positive.

Manufacturer said in their press release that they were contacted by UK lawyers who did not disclose that ITIA was their client. By Polish law, they are not allowed to send pharmaceutical samples they are producing to unauthorized third parties. And in Poland, Melatonin is considered a medicament, not a supplement, or so I understand.

There are versions of this drug that have been prepared for use by athletes and have been batch tested. The version they purchased was for OTC usage so they say although there was a prescription involved. It doesn't really make sense but here we are.The Player has asserted that she did not intend to cheat and did not knowingly ingest TMZ. She asserts that her physician, an expert in sports medicine, recommended that she purchase and use the Product to reduce the effects of jetlag from frequent travel, and that (unknown to her) the Product was contaminated with TMZ.

I finally looked this up and this is what I found out about this medication. Via WebMD
In other words it's used as a form of blood doping and that is why it's considered a PED. It seems to me that like Halep, Sinner and their teams the medication hadn't totally left her body when they took the sample hence the low amount found. Saying that what she took was melatonin is...let's say not true.Trimetazidine (TMZ) is a medication used to treat heart-related conditions like angina. It helps metabolize fatty acids, which helps your body use oxygen. The drug allows for more blood flow to your heart and limits quick changes in your blood pressure. This can help lessen chest pain from blocked blood vessels.4 Aug 2024

My opinion on such cases that are called "contamination": If the banned substance is NOT ON THE LIST OF INGREDIENTS OF THE DRUG, then these testing authorities have no ground for ANY PUNISHMENT - ABSOLUTELY NONE. It is just an unreasonable expectation that athletes will send to laboratory any drug/supplement they are taking. These "authorities" got too much power and they are clearly abusing it.

Re: Tennis Related - Off Court Serious Issues
How is this not true, if her team has sealed bottles of the drug that was sold with a prescription and TMZ is not among the listed ingredients of this drug? And the fact that TMZ was there is confirmed by independent and also VADA own labs. I don't see any room for other interpretations here, unlike in Sinner's case.ti-amie wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 2:00 am I finally looked this up and this is what I found out about this medication. Who "they"? Player's team? These are verifiable things: drugs shall have a packing with a list of ingredients, there shall be receipts from a drug store, etc.skatingfan wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 9:48 amAnd if they're lying?mick1303 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 01, 2024 8:34 am My opinion on such cases that are called "contamination": If the banned substance is NOT ON THE LIST OF INGREDIENTS OF THE DRUG, then these testing authorities have no ground for ANY PUNISHMENT - ABSOLUTELY NONE.
