I think someone here said that the Fernandez/Sock pairing may have been sponsor driven. From what you posted it seems like it's true.

PHEW!! After a 3:12 DOUBLES!! match, Rajeev and Joe managed to win in a 3rd set tiebreaker- 7-5, 4-6, (10-5). At 5-all in the third, Joe played a terrible service game- a double fault and errors. So, Cabal and Farah- who had a raucous crowd supporting them- more than for Rajeev and Joe (which was cool with me- I love hearing support for folks from all countries)- served for the match. Fortunately, at that point, Joe played a great return game to break- and then both Joe and Rajeev played an excellent third set tiebreaker- albeit, it definitely helped that, at what could have been a crucial point, the other team over-hit a makeable volley over the baseline. YAY for making another Slam title!!!! :bananas:

Vicky Mboko had to battle through her quarterfinal. That's good experience.
So far, so good.
She's the next one you'll be hearing about coming out of Canada, folks.
She just turned 16 years old 2 weeks ago.

Rajeev Ram is an interesting example of a player who was a dominant junior in singles but never made it in the pro ranks, turned to doubles and did very well..(have been following him since orange Bowl because he is of Indian origin, of course).
I think he is just a tad too slow to be a good singles player ..a bit like Sania and Mahesh Bhupathi...

Amazing move by Ram and Salisbury..After they returned serve, they switched sides ..while the point was still on..for no earthly reason other than to confuse their opponents! Never seen such a move in all my life

Think Townsend going to give USTA led by Patrick McEnroe the finger if she and McNally win tomorrow.

Watched the first 2 sets..some great tennis, some awful tennis too..Both McNallyand Townsend missed sitters , shouldhave won in straight sets, and the Czechs made more mistakes than i have seen them ever make...must have played better in the third set...it was too late so I went to sleep..
