Re: '23 Wimbledon Men's Lists, Draws and Discussion
Does anyone know which half of the men's draw will play on Day 1? I think it is the top half, but I am not certain.

I think that for the men's, it will be the bottom half because the defending champion opens Centre Court.

Re: '23 Wimbledon Men's Lists, Draws and Discussion
There is a weird discrimination against flat ball hitters like Mannarino. I do not consider him an overachiever. I consider him a player who would have had a much better career if more tournaments were played on grass, which favors flat ball hitters, and fewer were played on clay, which favors one-dimensional extreme western forehand grips.
He has been really good on grass his whole career, although he tends to struggle at Wimbledon because his game holds up better over three sets than five.

Re: '23 Wimbledon Men's Lists, Draws and Discussion
I am not discriminating. I admire the man. We should all strive to play tennis like him: the compactness of the strokes, the precise movement, the control.
He never goes for a winner from a wrong position but, at the pro level, he is underpowered. That he reached a career high of 22 is a testament that this sport can be played by thinking, not just blasting the ball.
And sure. Had he been born in the 60's, he would have been a Pancho Segura: control, finesse, consistency. Although I don't know if with the faster grass of those days the results would have been the same.

Beretitni vs Sonego? Sonego has a good record against him but can he play on grass? Berettini's monster serve may be enough? I really don't know how good Sonego is- I guess we will soon know .

Re: '23 Wimbledon Men's Lists, Draws and Discussion
Some people have taken Berrettini as a member of their YCWJ team. I say that is not a bad move.
It is not that Sonego may be better or worse, it is that Berrettini has been injured for too long and has played very little. Sure, he has a better serve but, right now, stroke by stroke, who do you take? And I say Sonego is a better mover at the moment.
On the modern slow grass courts, Berrettini's serve counts for a bit of an advantage. But all other items point at Sonego.

Nick Kyrgios Withdraws from Wimbledon 2023
2022 finalist forced to pull out of The Championships
Nick Kyrgios, last year's gentlemen's singles finalist, has been forced to withdraw from this year's Championships with a wrist injury.
In a post on his Instagram, the Australian wrote "I'm really sad to say that I have to withdraw from Wimbledon this year.
"I tried my hardest to be ready after my surgery and to be able to step on the Wimbledon courts again. During my comeback, I experienced some pain in my wrist during Mallorca.
"As a precaution I had it scanned and it came back showing a torn ligament in my wrist. I tried everything to be able to play and I am disappointed to say that I just didn’t have enough time to manage it before Wimbledon.
"I’ll be back, and as always, I appreciate the support from all my fans."
Kyrgios had been due to face wild card David Goffin on No.1 Court in the first round.

Kyrgios injury is not surprising...his forehand is so 'slappy', so wristy, it is guaranteed to happen sooner or later

Re: '23 Wimbledon Men's Lists, Draws and Discussion
I felt the opposite. He was so loose, and his strokes are so elastic, that I felt he would not have these sort of injuries.
Monfils sustains your theory, though.

I think Kyrgios' lack of consistent training is what leads to these types of injuries.
