by ponchi101 Welcome, welcome.
Sorry, we are a tad late to open today, but it is just something to do with that bloody Brexit mess. Ever since we had to let go of all the Euros (meaning the people, not the coin) we simply can’t find proper service. The Spaniards and Portuguese that were manning our place were, when we come to think about it, rather useful. No way you can find a lad from Liverpool that will show up in time.
Anyway, welcome in. We offer a very, very large selection of beers and ales, plus, of course, stronger spirits. Which is what, if you have already arrived, you probably are: already dead, and here now rest your demised entity. So, feel free to drown your sorrows in the ghastliest of fashions and tell us the tale of your death: TB in the fifth? Straight set romping? W/O because of a tummy ache after a bad batch of fish and chips? Or the dreaded, you forgot to post? Your dog ate the keyboard?
Music on demand, food if you feel like having something totally unpalatable, and just be sure of something: you won’t be alone for long.
Another fine Wimbledon tradition, we shall say.

by dave g That was pretty quick. Out of the men's side on Day 1.

by ponchi101 What's your fancy? 🍺🍟🍀
Hope that's a good start

by Irena2 A giant can of Sapporo, I guess. Nishioka, oh why, why?

Irena2!!!! You're supposed to be making Chicago proud. I mean, these Pools are SO simple, after all. We're expecting better from you with the women's Pool. :grouphug:

And indeed, that was a good pick that somehow...

SO simple *sigh* uh-huh. Thanks for the hug, much appreciated. I leave it to you, nelslus or motobass to carry on in the men's pool for Chicago glory. No pressure :P

I was about to pick Nishioka too but saw that he was beaten by Galan just last May, although on clay. Decided to look elsewhere and went for Baez, who proceeded to wilt away against Vera. I swear, this is a wonderful game we're playing...

by ponchi101 Bautista Agut brings down 15 players.... pending from Monday.
Sangria, I guess?

by shmrck14 Ugh, out in both pools via Rinderknetch and Giorgi so I'll have some champagne and Negroni

by ponchi101 And I better get ready myself. Pliskova is really stinking up her court.
Against a player ranked 225 and who, when you click on her profile, it says NO INFORMATION AVAILABLE.
Swell.

by ponchi101 And I just realixed.
Pliskova also let me down at the Aussie Open, losing to Linette and kicking me out by the quarters, and costing me a trophy.
Guess she goes into my NO PICK list.

by atlpam Just suffered a long slow death on day 3 for my day 1 pick of Bautista Agut. At least I don’t have to try and keep track of 3 picks at once anymore. Bring me a bucket of brews - better yet, pour them in the bucket and then pour it over my head for my own private rain shower.

Sorry. We can't dump it on you. Something about the law ;)
But here you have

by texasniteowl Well, it took a while but I'm officially a Day 2 loser on the ATP side. Cressy lost in the end. (And I lost Day 1 on the WTA side.)

At least I'm out of my misery now and more rain won't bother me!

by Irena2 Double-cheeked on day 3 courtesy of Giorgi. My losingest dude in YCWJ won, AND knocked me out the men's. But Brengle beat Errani today! I'll drink to that! Pimm's cups for everyone!

Glad to oblige. The ghastly thing about it is the cucumbers, IMO. I've had a lovely Pimm's cup in Chicago at Duke of Perth without the cucumbers.

by ponchi101 This place has been very dull as of late
I wonder if we should have a CANADIAN BEER 2 X 1 special this Sunday...
And Russian Vodka.

by ponchi101 Since Nelslus says that Eubanks is from Chicago, I will drown my sorrows of getting to the UPDATED topic and then dying miserably with a fine Chicago beer.
Not a bad run. I will console myself that way.

by ponchi101 And...
We have a special today. A certain young lady has sent us several crates of some very special beer, and we are serving them in a lovely four sampler. And we have like 60 cases, so you can all get as much as you want.
And, if you are an American, you can start rooting for the Cincinati Bengals from now on.
CHEERS!

by Fastbackss I deserve what I got.

Started to type V-O-N-D and mysteriously my weakness spelled swiatek.

Sigh

by ponchi101 Who would have thought? Many of us picked Eubanks too early, and several picked Swiatek too late. This game is too cruel.

by patrick That WTA match on Court 1 hurted today as Pegula was leading 6-2,4-1 after losing set 1 with a point for 5-1 on Vondrousova's serve but couldn't close.
