ADF was leading 8-5 in the tiebreak and didn't win another point...

I witnessed the debacle, too. Horrendous way to lose a match.

John and I watched the Petra win yesterday after it was played, on ESPN +'s On Demand. LOL, NOT likely I'll watch all of today's Petra stinker win. May watch the last three games later today, out of morbid curiosity.

And, yup, Paul remains alive, on serve and up 6-5 in the 4th set- now on another rain delay.
The woman Petra was playing got on her very, very last nerve. At one point Petra gave a sarcastic fist pump after winning a fairly routine point mimicking what her opponent was doing. I thought the rain delay was a good thing for Petra. She calmed her anger down and came back on court ready to send her opponent back to ITF's.

Foki tried, at 8-8 in a fifth set tie break, an underarm serve from a non dominant position on the court, and Rune feasted before going on to win. Why would you try that shot at that point in a match you've all but won? Talk about the stuff of nightmares.

If you listened to him talk about his Wimbledon dreams during the talk with Shelton and Tiafoe you know he's in seventh heaven.

The last point ADF won was on an amazing lob retrieval when he raced back to retrieve a lob that landed on or near the baseline and lobbed it in desperation back over Rune's head and off the baseline.

The second to last point he won was on a sublime angled half volley at the net.

The last five points would have been tough to watch if Rune had not been my SP pick. It was an even match but ADF was the slightly better player.

Foki went from this...

To this.

After he lost the point he said to his box that he saw Runes return position. But execution was just not good enough imo.

I mean imagine how calm you need to be thar late in the 5th to play a good enough underarm serve

Isn't it time that somebody works out what is the success rate of underarm serves? We have enough points now to make a statistically significant analysis.
And players could make better informed decisions.
Although this one was clearly not Nobel Prize material.

Looks like play on the outer courts is done for the day.

BTW. "I (expletive) myself". That must be a spanish translation, because we do not use that expression. What we use would translate better as "I was scared :poop:less"
But, yes. A person owning his actions. How refreshing.

I did wonder about that. Thanks.
