Sebastian Baez is the living proof that rankings matter. He has had terrible luck with draws this year, because his ranking dropped and he keeps running into seeded players. A bad stretch.

Casper Ruud dumped out Hamburg but Arthur Fils 0 & 4. So far the Ruud swing has not been that successful.

The first set was a shock but to be honest Fils routined him in the second set and today he was the better player.

I haven't watched Ruud that much but is he ranked as highly as he is because he plays a lot or is he really a top ten talent tennis wise? He didn't seem lost today but he did seem disinterested. Does he hate clay?

Casper Ruud is ranked as highly as he is because he wins the matches he's supposed to win, and he also works to be the star player at tournaments like Hamburg where most of the top players aren't going to play.

Ruud can have a very high ceiling, but he also has a low floor. He can sprinkle these losses and then make a deep run at slams.
