by skatingfan I hope Monfils isn't over playing now. That's always been one of his issues is over doing it with all the tournaments, and the exhibitions and then getting injured.

by JTContinental Weird that there are next to no Americans in the draw this year

You got Marcos Giron, what more could you want?

Someone who loses early in Cincy will take a wild card. Maybe Shelton.

I bet he'll pull out. He looked semi-injured today vs Norrie.

by nelslus .....At this point in time- Ponchi and I would beat Rajeev and Joe at the US Open. (*And I haven't played in a few years.) :gorgeous:

by ponchi101 I was about to be moved by your choice of partner, and then I realized:
"Wait! He is saying Rajeev and Joe would lose to a hapless team!!!!!"
So....

(But I get your point ;) )

by nelslus LOL, Korda and Gasquet were fighting desperately to determine who would lose this match. Korda was up 5-3, 30-15- and I think Korda had been up a break earlier in the third set? Then, Korda loses the plot, and Gasquet goes up 4-1 in the third set tiebreaker. Gasquet double faults and hits an error. Korda goes up for his first match point at 6-5 in the tiebreaker. Then, two errors from Korda. Gasquet gets to match point, and- you guessed it- an error from Gasquet. Finally- Korda managed to hit one fewer errors to win the match.

Also, in the third set, Korda had a bizarre situation where, I believe he tripped, and remained on his back on the court for an uncomfortable period of time- seeming in some pain. Looked like he might have to default. But- then he eventually go back up to play. :?:

Riveting stuff. :freaking:

Coric isn't defending champion - Adrian Mannarino won this event last year.

by jazzyg After battling for more than three hours in that semifinal, Coric and Baez will play again in the first round of the U.S. Open.

History (both theirs and the usual faceplant of tournament winners the week before a slam) says Coric will get his revenge in the rematch.
