by nelslus OK, let's forget about any Iga snark for the moment. I mean.....Jessica?!??! (But, HEY, at least Jessica won't have to worry about the horrible pressure of trying to make a Slam SF. :gorgeous:

by ponchi101 I would go the other way:
MADDIE!!!!!!   When she plays well she has such a gorgeous game.

.....Problem is, at least at a Slam- Maddie's gorgeous game shows up about once every five years.... :gorgeous:

by jazzyg It's win the tournament or bust for Keys.

It does amaze me how many people refuse to recognize how incredibly good she is when she is in form. Obviously she's been injury prone and unable to maintain a top level for several years now, but she absolutely is capable of beating anyone on a hard court, and doing it on a big stage. That should not even be up for debate. I still question whether she's won enough this year to really believe in herself for three more matches--all of which will be imminently losable--but I can't wait to find out.

by texasniteowl um...what?! I just got home. what the flip happened? 1 and 3? Maddie? someone explain please?!

Her talent and top level isn’t up for debate. But she has floundered in big moments.

by atlpam Pegula was listless out there - very low energy.

I have said it. The serve is a beauty, the FH is amazing, the BH is solid, she can volley. Sure, her footwork is not the speediest, but it is not on the "ugly" side of what we have out there.

by ti-amie Rublev/Draper is interesting. Rublev is 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 2 all in the fourth.

by ti-amie BTW Arnaldi fought as hard as he could but his top level was Carlitos mid level. The result was NID.

by ti-amie Rublev takes it 6-4 in the fourth set.

by ponchi101 The same game plan from Rublev as always. He will not be able to beat Daniil, as always.

by JTContinental Why show live tennis when we can listen to James Blake blather on or watch Zverev on the practice courts?

My tennis life, in one sentence (exchange James Blake for Jose Luis Clerc and Zverev for Schwartzman).

QUE LINDOOOOOOOOOOO!

by ti-amie Ons fighting for her life at 2-6, 3-5 after just breaking Qinwen.

Had 40-15 on her serve and made 3 mistakes. MP Zheng. Ons played aggressiely and saved it, then bent over like she was going to throw up. Then hit a great drop shot.

Yep. She's got the AD right now and holds. Qinwen will try and serve it out.

by JTContinental Zheng serves it out and advances, despite wearing orange shoes with her pink dress.

by ti-amie Qinwen does it in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. Ons was visibly unwell.

Jabeur's legs just didn't have any energy today, and she was coughing a lot between points. :(

by meganfernandez Zverev had a fan removed for using "the most famous Hitler phrase." I didn't hear it, don't know it, and probably wouldn't want to type it anyway.

Edit: Now I think I know it, but don't want to type it.

by ponchi101 In a match that is becoming a classic, due to the physicality. What an idiot.
I can't see either guy recovering in time to meet Alcaraz. This has been brutal.

First serve speed will be down, and Alcaraz will be pulling out all the drop shot - lob combos that he can.
