GMP was a lucky loser. Korda was an unlucky seed. So sad - Korda was finally poised to make a run. He was originally drawn to play Davidovich Fokina.

Not sure how someone beat GMP in qualies.

Mpetshi Perricard went 1-2 in the lead-up tournaments, losing in two tiebreaks to Musetti (no shame there), beating Shelton and losing in straight sets without getting to a tiebreak against Billy Harris (big problem). He did not have a break point against Korda until his lone break in the fifth set and because of his inability to return serve, he can lose to anyone on grass. Anyone, and I would not be surprised if 5-7 Nishioka takes him out in the second round. He also can beat most guys on grass, and top players will not want to face him, but Korda made some bad forehand errors at crucial times today.

Despite the 140-miles-per-hour-plus serve, I think the result today was more Korda's fault than M-P's doing.

Last week, Kenin lost a qualifying match for Eastbourne 6-0, 6-1. Swiatek has an incredibly tough draw to get to the quarters. She's talented enough to get through it, but nothing she did today (other than not losing) told me anything about he likelihood of doing it.

It is sad how far Kenin has fallen. Is she still be coached by her father?

Kenin tried it without her father but he's back coaching her.

I know, it's sad and sort of mystifying. I know she doesn't have a big weapon, but it didn't prevent her from winning the Australian. I think her game is beautiful and her instincts are terrific. I'd love to hear a solid analysis of her matches and what her game needs.
