by ashkor87 some juicy matches today.. Sinner-Michelsen, Osaka-Muchova both interesting, though I dont expect Sinner to lose. Osaka could lose, but Muchova is the kind of subtle, crafty player whom she cannot just blow away - the opposite of Ostapenko in fact. Meanwhile, Michelsen is one of the few really aggressive players who loves to volley..

Muchova is currently my favorite player to watch. Such a silky smooth technique. I think she'll beat Osaka.

Agree. Agree. And agree.

by jazzyg Errani served and volleyed on three consecutive points against Dolehide late in the second set and won them all.

I had not seen her play in years. Her first serve is still weak and her second serve is still slower than slow, but she did not double fault once when I was watching and never served under-handed. She was coming to the net at every opportunity, which she never did when she was a top-10 player.

by mick1303 So many players in identical outfits. All sporting the colors of Estonian flag ))

by ti-amie So Pliskova and Rybakina have withdrawn.

And who has them both in his THRtNY team? Yup, solid choices all the way...

by ti-amie Diallo vs Fils right now

Image

by Owendonovan Rybakina should take the rest of the year off and get herself back together.

by martini4me I bet nobody had Diallo as the Canadian (singles) player who would win (at least) two more matches that the rest combined.

LOL, WE did. John and I saw Diallo play a few matches and win the Chicago Open a few weeks ago. We were very impressed with him- lots of skills. Excellent serve- which can crack at times- solid groundstrokes, and he comes to the net at mostly the right times. We went up to him and his coach to congratulate him/them, and I told Diallo that he very much belongs on the main tour.

I am TELLING you all, play in Chicago, and watch your career improve big time. Great to see Diallo doing so well. Emma Raducanu, Ben, Safiullin, Michelsen, Kovacevic. LOL, heck, even Aussie Schoolkate, who played in Chicago last year, is doing well at the Open.

by ti-amie They're saying he's 6'8" tall - 2.032m and can move really well. He also has great court sense. You should've seen the looks on the faces of Grosjean and a man I presume is Fils father in that fourth set. I wonder if they underestimated what Diallo's level of play is.

by nelslus ....AND Naomi does a full reenactment of her flippin' Iga Roland Garros match. She served for the second set, 40-0--- and horrendously missed easy and/or very makable shots. Saves one match point in the tiebreaker....and then fluffs a put-away shot to have saved what would have gotten her even in the second set tiebreaker. Happy for Muchova and all. But, UGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

by ti-amie Image

What is happening?!

by ti-amie Carillo just said that Carlitos is arguing with the strategy his team gave him after leaving the court. Interesting.

by Owendonovan Alcaraz is playing desperate tennis, to not great results.

by nelslus Other than the He is Human thought....my theory is that Carlos losing that gold medal- VERY hopefully temporarily- destroyed his will to do what it takes to win matches. UGHHHHH, LOL, I do hate this. BUT, I guess that Carlos has had a pretty decent year.

Some Canadians hadn't even heard of him so never would have picked it :)

by ponchi101 Carlitos goes into funks for a few weeks, every once in a while.
This is just bad timing. He will be back, soon.

It is YOUR fault, ponchi, YOUR fault. Ever since your unseemly public commentary about Carlos' acne, he has not been the same.

When Carlos pulls a Borg and runs away with his 4 Slam titles, silver medal and millions of dollars, never to be seen again on the tour, we will have only you to blame. :D

....I'll still let you start up the Carlos Alcaraz is Washed Up Thread.

by mick1303 And Rafa's Triple Crown achievement is now safe as being the last one who's done it. It is IMO the only significant achievement he has over Novak, that is not surface-specific.

by mick1303 It was painful to watch Hurkacz movement. He should've skipped post-Wimbledon and let his knee/hip heal properly.

Sorry. What triple crown that Novak has not achieved? The big three each won every slam. It is not something that Novak did not achieve.
If you don't mind expanding...

French Open - Wimbledon - US Open - only Laver, and Nadal have won those 3 in a row.
