I don't like to predict scores but I must say I dont think it will be close ..Sinner in straights...

by ashkor87 Interesting that the leftie TT chooses to play the deuce court ..

by ashkor87 The contrasting styles of siniakova and townsend, especially the leftie rightie, is causing trouble for their opponents

I was hoping for a better match.

by ashkor87 Siniakova not returning well, especially when she has to move forward, TT playing great, Osta not doing much at the net, the magician is a bit off...slight misunderstanding between TT and Siniakova, contrary to what Robson is saying

by ashkor87 First game of third set, TT coming over to talk to Siniakova between first and second serves..mistake,! Always disturbs the server.dont know why they do it,! siniakova promptly served a df

by ashkor87 I really don't think Zverev can win a major on any surface but clay...he has 20% chance at RG but that is about it. He is a very good player but can't be considered in the same class as Sinner and Alcaraz..he had a window when he could have sneaked in and won but then Thiem stepped up and took the opportunity..
Sadly, Tsitsipas and Zverev are in the same boat..their train has left the station.

Protecting Siniakova's forehand.

by ashkor87 Sinner did not face a single break point!
Has that ever happened before? I dont remember an instance, offhand..

by Suliso I hope we get Sinner vs Alcaraz Slam final this year.

If he gets suspended, I'm very interested in how they plan to reconcile these wins during what should have been a suspension.

by ponchi101 I am afraid that Mick's concern that Zverev will be broken after this defeat will become true.
We need a third slam contender. I know that Zverev is nobody's favorite but the rest of the cast looks already on their way out. Medvedev, Tsitsipas (as said above), Rublev (who was never a real contender), Fritz and Ruud seem not even close. Rune's promise was flukey, at best. Maybe Shelton can cut down on the errors.

by Suliso Not those guys. It will be someone much younger than them. Maybe Shelton indeed.

Nadal did not face a break point when he beat Kevin Anderson in the 2017 US Open final.

by meganfernandez I watched the men's final Tuesday, after all the coverage of Sinner's perfection and Zverev's reaction of utter futility. I was shocked by what I saw - I thought Zverev was well in the match and lost it primarily because of his attitude and unforced errors. Sinner didn't smother him with offense or defense. He played very, very well, and obviously played the matchup well, but Zverev had a ton of chances to be aggressive and was pretty successful when he was. I know Sinner sort of smothered him with pressure by being super consistent and serving well (never faced a break point), but that's pressure you can deal with. That's not taking the racket out of someone's hand. I think Zverev's attitude hurt him more than Sinner did. He was the better player in the 2nd set and just got unlucky.

by ashkor87 I can't agree with you there..Sinner was the better player throughout, i thought .

by ponchi101 They played a very similar match. And it boiled down to: everything Zverev did, Sinner did a little better.

Sinner played a better match overall, but I thought Zverev had the edge in the 2nd. I just thought there was a lot of room for Zverev to play better. It’s not like he played his absolute best and it wasn’t good enough, as he made it sound. I wasn’t glued to it, but every time I looked up, Zverev was forcing an error or controlling the point only to make an unforced error not every but a mighty lot.

I’d say yes at the most important times. Which wasn’t a steamroll to me.

If the conditions had been faster, like last year, Zverev would indeed have been steamrolled..slow courts are a great Equalizer. Ofcourse, the rest of the year will be like this.

by ponchi101 It was not a steamroll, indeed. But Sinner looked in control all the time.
Plus, he served out of his mind for the entire match. They started at high percentages and dropped a little bit, but both were serving very well.
